grounding locations for ecu.

Recommended Posts

Actually, I screwed up.  The injectors are controlled by the ECCS, off of the signal from the CAS.  Since you have spark, you're pretty close.  You didn't say what engine management system you're using.  81, 82, 83, Z31?

1982 l28et with ecu. I have 3 grounds on injector plug at Ecu. 2wires from plug and one single. There was another ground wire was thicker gauge with one copper connector on each end don't know where that wire goes.

Plus I have a custom intake manifold similar to what senza guy is making at the group buy section. I don't have the stock ground mounting locations anymore.

There were ground wires that attach to the factory manifold, make sure those are grounded.

Also, the stock ignitor grounds through the bracket. Make sure you have good ground strap on the engine and that the bracket has a good ground.

Injectors are grounded through the ecu, should have +12 on the injectors at the ecu plug.

I'm using the stock ground wire from a 280zx from battery(-) to body to starter bolt. Have 2 ground wires coming from ecu that then become splice together then separate bolted to fuel rail mounting bolt. I have another ground wire coming from underneath intake bolt where the heat shield bolts too going to body. Another single ground wire coming from ecu is bolted to side on engine.

Am I suppose to ground black wire from ecu to cold start valve since I'm not using it.

Will it stay running?  Idle?  You can swap injector plugs to see if you have a wiring problem or an injector problem.  Take the injector plugs off, one at a time, and note which cylinders work and which don't.  Then swap a plug from a cylinder that works to one that doesn't and see if the dead cylinder comes to life.

It won't fix things but it will tell you a little more about what's going on.  And check your plug wires for firing order.  153624 counterclockwise.
