Ms2Extra V3.57 V.3.3.2, Norway calls out!!! L28et map

Hi, i have just bought me a "New" unused MS2Extra v.3.57, i kind of regretting it but whats done is done.

So now im standing here with this setup for now untill i have got the car approven by the car approval service in Norway, i imported this car from oklahoma2 mth ago, got it for 3 weeks ago.

My internals for now is following: L28Et, Stock P90 Head (Turbo) stock 1981 turbo motor. Wasted spark, Ign6 from DiyAutotune, 36-1 Trigger wheel with VR sensor. 2,5bar map sensor. 240sx Tb, Q45 MAF Nissan maxima ,infinity, New 460CC Denso from fiveomotor.com Got them today and they was not Plug&Play as they insured me of, even my package only had 4 out of 6 Injectors. I have to take the plenum of and drill larger holes, Yes its high imp. I called them and they fixed it right away, no problem what so ever.

I also have Knock sensor (Stock) But i got the Msknocksens system from MS. What pin is that one going into??

The Ecu was set up for 4 cyl, i have set it up for 6 cyl now it was also set up for stepper motor, i dont need that for my setup, any ideas for what i can and cannot use them for instead for cutiing them out?

Im gonna use Fidle for Vacuum idle.

When it comes to MAP sensor/Boost controll, why in the heavens name do a person have to add on diffrent components all the time, its like a Nintendo, Ps2,ps3 and on and on.. everything you need you have to pay extra for, it is not alot, like the MK-Boost kit at Diyauto.. 7.80$ its nothing, but why didnt you then implement it when they buildt the board???

So here is my question, i got the MK-Boost kit from DIY, but i cant really find out where to solder it, im not an electrician, and all of the manuals out there are so confusing regarding all of the diffrent and mixed up manuals they got.

Where do the pins go? On what output pin, where to solder (pics is nice) i was thinking aboute using 1IAC1.

And Please dont send me a link with E-Diagram for electricians from msextra.com .

But all advises comes in hand

Thanx to you all.

If we built the MegaSquirt and it was ordered with a KnockSenseMS input, the pin will be noted on the receipt. If this was added later, there will be a wire from either JS4 or JS5 to the pin to be used for the KnockSenseMS.

Unused stepper outputs can be used for relay control or tach output.

These features weren't around when the board was designed. The MegaSquirt was designed to be a DIY system that was easily hacked. The original hardware and code base had a fairly limited feature set (in the case of MS2, two fuel channels, stepper IAC, and one spark channel), but coders soon found the processor could support a lot more features than that, and the board had pads brought out to allow adding these things. However, building a ready to run system with a lot of these outputs can be time consuming and expensive, so they are only added to ready to run units by special order.

If you are looking for boards with a standard feature set, you can use a MicroSquirt or MS3-Pro.

Sorry, the only official documentation for modifying an MS2 for boost control is on MSExtra.com. They are working on an overhaul. Right now, there's this schematic:

If this one is difficult to use, if you can specify what questions you would like answered that aren't answered there, I will do my best to answer them.

You will need a temperature sensor, unless you are using the stock one on the P90.  You also need an IAT sensor.  I never saw a mention of a wideband O2 either.  There is a lot that goes into setting up MS when you haven't had any experience with it.  Trust me I went through many frustrations with set up initially but now 2 years later my car still runs rock solid.  I question why you mention a mass air sensor as you really don't need it, the MAP sensor in MS does fine.

What car do you have

What fuel pump/tank are you running

What boost solenoid are you using

Remember MS is for us trying to get something big for a reasonable price.  Compared to any other ECU out there its the most cost effective way to get big bang for your buck with features.  It just takes alot initially to understand it all.  Read Read Read.  You can do alot with an MS2 for an L series set up.  Just takes a few "mods" and once you get used to the way MS is built/ works/ you will see the value.  Its way too early in your adventure to get frustrated.  Trust me, the worst has yet to come.

Thanx for all of the answers, ill leave the stepper issue alone for now, since i get it to idle pretty good without stepper motor.

And i now use Fidle for boost control.

Another thing im wondering about is the correct setup in the TunerStudio for 280z Turbo "81 L28ET.

I loaded in the a setup from Cygnus changed the spark settings and all of that, i took the car out for a ride on Friday an i got it to run pretty good, But i now that it can run a whole lot better.

So here is my questions:

- Should the "Incorporate AFR target" in general setting be set at off?

- I read that since its a turbo car it should only run on Alpha-N on "Primary fuel load"  Should it also then be Alpha-N on "Primary Ignition load" ?

- I tryed to set the "Time based Accel enrichment" to TPS Based AE but when i trying to give it some throttle it alsmost die unless i do it really slow if i remember right.

My internals are:

L28Et, Stock P90 Head (Turbo) stock 1981 turbo motor. Wasted spark, Ign6 from DiyAutotune, 36-1 Trigger wheel with VR sensor. 2,5bar map sensor240sx Tb, Q45 MAF Nissan maxima ,infinity, New 460CC Denso

Im posting link to my .MSQ so you can take a look at it if you guys want.

I have driven an L28ET on both MAP and MAF, and I have to say that MAF was way easier to tune with and the engine ran so much smoother. There is growing support for MAF with megasquirt and there is a reason that most OEMs use it. It is so flexible and forgiving and it just works.

Also, I have used ITB mode on an NA open ITB motor. Lots of setup, but great payoffs with tuning. It gives you the ability to maximize the VE map with varying the amount of cells that go with alpha-n and MAP on the same table. Which makes autotune work so much better.
