280z VK56 Swap

Recommended Posts

So my friend and I are going to start a Datsun 280z project drift car. I wanted to use a Nissan Titan VK56 engine but I dont have any sort of assurance that the engine will actually fit PROPERLY, Without any hood adjustments. I want to know weather or not it fits and if it doesnt, I would like to know what i could do to make it fit.

If there are literally no other ways to allow fitment, I would highly appreciate some other v8 engine and 5-6 speed transmission combinations that i could use instead of the original plan. Thank You.

Search around for VK56 swaps and see what cars they fit in.  Here's a 350Z swap, with a little bit of a hood clearance problem.

Here's a thread for a 240SX swap.  It's in Stanceworks though, so the engine will be taller than the car when he's done.

I use to work for Nissan. Let's just say you can get a lot more for less, and more reliable with a LS123456789x swap. Plus your better off choosing the chevy engine. Tons of aftermarket support for it. Nothing wrong with your dream/vision, so unless you plan to pave they way and have a lot of resources at your disposal you might want to shy away from it.

All of these requirements are just the beginning:

Fabricator / Welder

CNC machinists

Wiring specialists

Tuner

Big bank roll / tons of diy time
