Sifter ideas?

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

I was here a few weeks ago when my starter died on my 78 Z I finally got it replaced a few weeks ago with a nice Power Master and now my car is back up and running! Now onto my next quandary...  Last week I went junk yard searching to find a Z to scrounge some parts off of and I found a 77 2+2 with lots of good stuff (good thing too because the car was being crushed the next day!) I was able to get a usable center console complete with a stereo, switches and everything. I also grabbed all the gauges, the turn signal switch, and the blower fan. My car has a TH-350 installed in it and a B&M Pro-stick sifter bolted to a plate that covers the stock sifter hole. and I decided that I would like to install the junkyard console since I don't have one... I figured that the shifter would probably fit in since I have seen a few other people who had mated this exact shifter with the stock center console. So I started by loosening the plate that was screwed over the hole so that I could move the shifter around and make adjustments as needed... Well when I put the console in the shifter was both to tall and to long to fit in the hole. SO my question is how did everyone else make this shifter fit in the center console or did they use a smaller version that is produced?

I attached a picture of the center console of one of the 280's that I have seen with a quarter stick installed
