Still not exactly sure what the difference is. Edit: Found this picture. Apparently the top is a "full reverse" barrel and the bottom is a "standard" or "stepped" lip. R3VO 3VOM Posted March 13, 2015 Share Posted March 13, 2015 (edited) The lip doesn't necessarily mean more brake clearance (to my knowledge anyway). Usually it's face construction that determines this. More than likely the two different style lips are equal. With a reverse lip, the drop center is behind the face. Whereas on a stepped lip the drop center is everywhere basically past the outer rim edge. The thing is with a stepped lip, the face of the wheel is actually smaller than with a reverse lip. For example (rough but hopefully the idea comes across), 17" reverse lip uses a 17" face. However, a 17" stepped lip uses 16" face and the other 1" of diameter comes from the stepped lip. Because of this, both would fit about the same diameter disc (assuming that the drop center of the 17" reverse lip was around 1" as well). But this is also assuming the stepped lip doesn't step back up immediately after the face. I've seen wheels that do this and ones that step up at the very back edge as well. So if it steps up right after the face I guess there is more clearance for the disc. But caliper clearance would be due to the face construction more than lip style. Front: 17 x 9.5 -13mm offset (reverse barrel) Rear: 17 x 11 -6mm offset (reverse barrel) Tires are Nitto NT05 275/40/17 up front and 315/35/17 in the rear. Chris Duncan Posted August 23, 2015 Share Posted August 23, 2015 (edited) That's a large selection of sizes and offset, and the offset can be tailored. But only one choice of center style, hopefully they will expand on that. There's more than one dimension of caliper envelope. The easy one is the inside barrel diameter, the other is the distance from the hub face to the back of the spokes, and it doesn't look that large on these. When you run fixed piston calipers (as opposed to floating) they require more room, because the outboard piston(s) stick out more than a slider style which doesn't have outboard pistons. Most wheels are only set up to clear the more common sliders especially a wheel that gives up a lot of axial distance to the outer dish.
