Stainless steel headers, exhaust and JDM twin-pipe rear muffler

Recommended Posts

I'm coming to the end of the current batch of exhausts and headers/collecteurs/manifolds.
I'm in the process of planning the next batch which will have some improvements because standing still = going backwards !

After having frozen my prices since May this year with a now deflated Euro € which has lost me a % on each sale, there will be a price increase.

The next batch should be available from the end of February and so I'd ask customers to be patient BUT I shall reward that patience :
anyone ordering and paying before the end of this year will receive the new, improved parts at the current prices.

Improvements include :

Lambda plugs pre-installed for gas-flow and tuning measurements full-time or on the rolling-road
Even better, snugger fitting of the headers and exhaust
Some minor issues addressed
An S30 2+2 extension pipe so as not to forget our 2+2s

Don't forget, ordered and paid before end 2015 - delivery during March 2016.

Sensor bung arrived today, also ordered a plug just in case [was only a $1 more...].  Planning the bung location for my AEM wide band AFR. Purchased a separate SS bung (so it matches the SS exhaust and curve of the pipe).  I like the curved bung so it'll need less 'weld'.

New batch prices - March 2016
Here are the new prices for the next batch available from March 2016.

January sale :

for all orders processed before the end of February, I will apply the 2015 prices.

Improvements are :

1) lambda sensor plugs in each 'Y' collecteur.

2) an even easier exhaust fitting and higher up towards the chassis.

3) a 2+2 extension to enable ALL the S30s to improve themselves.

Any questions, either PM/email : seanz@wanadoo.fr

Few pics from today.  Finally got around to removing the existing exhaust to test fit the new, determine sensor bung location & such.

Fitment is wonderful and looks great.  Next step is to cut the rubber hangers to the correct length, drill mounting holes then finalize the install.  After that, reinstall the carbs & fire it up!

Looking at headers and exhaust for my 1971 240z, and these look like a super option with all of the boxes checked.  I currently have the 2.4L in my Z, but may move up to a 2.8L in the future.

Are there different versions of your headers for the different square/rectangular port vs the round port heads?  I see only a mention of rectangular ports.

Other headers are port specific, and not sure I if I am missing something on these.

Thanks.

Hiya and thanks for the question !

Mine were designed to fit reactangular (square) ports.

That said, there is plenty of metal on my flanges to machine out the necessary 1.5mm - 3.5mm (depending upon which port) at the centre of each side for them to meet flush with rond ported heads (on some) L28s.

I like the way these look. Does anyone know if they make more power then MSA headers and are they built better. I'm getting ready to buy a set and just thought I'd ask the question.

I can't verify power vs. the MSA headers [6>1] but can verify the material & build quality - which are top notch.

Thanks for that ‘tuff’ ! J

Ok, let’s be concise – a header and line will never ‘make’ power J but different headers etc will release power AND torque* differently.

The big, single outlet of the 6-1 header will dump a lot of high-revving-made gas in a short time and therefore good for runs and such. Also why Kameari make large bore primary-piped headers !

Mine are designed primarily for road use whether than be general, normal driving , fast-road or a combination and therefore although they will allow freer flowing gases at high revs, I have three versions to suit different levels of engine size/tune.

But ‘power’ is all at the top end of the rev range and how many of us drive 9/10ths every day and everywhere ?

*coming back to torque….mine are designed to free up that all important factor to overcome the vehicle’s inertia and therefore aid acceleration ! I’ll explain :

Look at any dyno graph read-out and you engine’s torque comes in fairly early compared to power (hp). The earlier that torque engages, the better (faster) your car will accelerate and you use torque for every gear change up ‘til 3-3500 revs which is +80% of the time on the roads.

Makes sense to me to exploit the engine’s torque that you use most of the time rather than be ready for some top end revving one in a while to the detriment of the majority of your driving.

How do mine aid the torque release ?

By having 40 or 42mm interior diameter primary pipes (speak with Eiji of Datsun Spirit who doesn’t like bigger on his engines) to allow a faster flow (and yes, big isn’t always better – that is also true of the rear exhaust line exit and why I’ve reduced the standard muffler from 3” to 2.5”…..and never mind the JDM muffler with 2x 2” exits !) but most importantly the 6x become 2x3 and then 2x and only become 1x as far back as the rear of the gearbox (compare that to the S20 engined OEM and after-market exhausts from Fujitsubo that are twin all the way out).

This pipe number staged reduction allows the exhaust gases to exit asap without interfering with any cylinder firing order !

Those 6-2 which become one before or just under the firewall risk allowing exhaust gases to remount towards the cylinders, effectively choking the engine and reducing power and most especially at lower revs which (see above) is where your toque counts !

Even on a track, you’d notice the difference between mine and a 6-1 – coming out of sharp corners, chicanes, the engine might ‘bog-down’ before the revs build up and you fly off up the track again.

Too many people speak and brag of max power when it’s torque that counts especially from our large cc engines (compared to say, 510s and their four-pots).

Thanks for asking the question and feel free to discuss.

Best regards, Sean

ps of course, let's get real, budgets are also important and most of the MSA kit is inexpensive....all of the Japanese kit is.....mine sits halfway between them and I'm very confident that it matches the performance and certainly the durability  of that available in Japan. Also, if anything should break or you damage it - spares (in stainless steel) will always be available.

Production delay
Just posted this up on FB :

Just had confirmation of the delivery date for the next batch of manifolds, silencers and exhausts : July !

I feel powerless, frustrated, very annoyed, worse - I'm letting YOU all down.
I placed this order initially in December 2015 with a 50% deposit and although some of the delay is 'my fault' for insisting on several modifications and upgrades, it's slipped and slipped and if their quality was one inch less than I've already enjoyed and expect, I'd look elsewhere.

Ok, for those people for whom this date presents a big problem, please contact me via email or PM and we'll try to find a solution together.

In the meantime, I appreciate your pateince and understanding - these are not mass-produced and will last a lifetime and I will do my best to reward my loyal customers.

Hi all,

I've been a bit lazy giving updates and kinda relied upon my FB page so I apologise to those of you who don't or won't FB !

Here are the latest photos with a few captions !

Tooling up for the revised Street-sport manifold.

Preparation of the bulk items ready for treatment and assembly.

Ok, it's happening - progress, but still lots to do....

JDM silencers in processing.

There have been some fitting issues with the previous batch which have been addressed :

thicker V-band clamp bolts (6-8mm)
thicker fixing straps (5-8mm)
replaced Street-sport lower flange bolt-holes
chamfored edge under no.1 port (here in prototype)

Getting there.....but just not quick enough -  just 1 (sometimes 2x men working on them)....and stopping to take 'my' photographs !

Finally, delivery has been confirmed as the week beginning 18th July and I shall ensure that all pre-paid orders are sent out first that week as a priority - thankyou all for your trust and patience.

Improvements are :

1) lambda sensor plugs in each 'Y' collecteur.

2) improved flange fitting and exhaust fixations

3) improved Street-sport manfold and Y-pipe collector

4) an even easier exhaust fitting and higher up towards the chassis.

5) a 2+2 extension to enable ALL the S30s to improve themselves.

Any and all questions - just ask - a pleasure to hear from you.
