I know dapper has hid projector but that look does not work for me. These are the led that I'm looking at. seattlejester Posted March 1, 2016 Share Posted March 1, 2016 They've come a long way, I have some strict bulbs in my daily. Cons are... Lower light output. It feels like they don't throw as far, although that may be just my lumen rating. If they are the multi LED bulb style, then you can get a short and loose some of the LED's not a huge problem, but you can see dead spots when looking at the bulb. dmoralesbello Posted March 1, 2016 Share Posted March 1, 2016 I went with LED lighting in my '78 Z because of it's efficiency (less power consumption from the electrical system) and crisp white illumination yet also wanted my headlights to look stock when off. I ended up using the MSA headlamp reflectors (which have a hooded fitment for an H4 bulb) with a Phillips high output H4 LED bulb. Because of the cooling fins on the back of said bulb I had to mod my headlight buckets to extend them. After completion the headlights look period correct and the lighting is top quality and correctly focused. Hi-lo switching is immediate too which is not the case with HIDs. Pro's: Draws way less amps.... i think it was 1.6 amps per light on low beams. brighter than stock. As bright than hid's (in my opinion) -SIMPLE wiring! no ballasts unlike HID's. Just three wires. -completely bolts in. cons: - they are kinda heavy.. if stuff like that matters to you... probably weighs about 5lbs each. -the lens stick out farther than stock. Since Jeeps also use 7" lights, there are quite a few options.
