327 v8 240z. Swap or build?

Recommended Posts

If your goal is only 350 bhp I'd be surprised if you couldn't get that out of the motor that you have with intake/cam/exhaust. I expect my lightly cammed L33 5.3 (better heads, higher compression) to put down somewhere around 325 to the wheels.

Please guide me in the correct direction. I have a 283 SBC Engine with about 300 HP for installation in my 1987 300ZX with low miles on the body. Are there suppliers available to adapt the Chevy engine to the car body using front engine mounts, and to adapt to the Nissan 5 speed stock transmission.      Or, to provide drive-train adapters if I use the entire Chevy engine and transmission in the 300ZX body.  I have owned the car and the engine components for 10 years and would prefer to purchase new or used/modified components.  Pdfflyer  at Roadrunner.   Thanks !

I've seen a few 300ZX's around the web with powered by an SBC... Below are a few links to help get you started.

Having done a few s30 V8 conversions, which aren't exactly easy, I don't think the 300zx has the V8 parts support. Some modifcations/welding may be required.

Good luck!
