2016 National Championship Runoffs- Mid Ohio Sportscar Course

Recommended Posts

Hey Guys,

It's almost that time of year once again. Like Brett Favre, I've not retired the car as I said on TV last year. Giving up a Champions Provisional is not something I wanted to do again, plus I have unfinished business at Mid Ohio. Yes, I am eligible to go to this race without qualifying all year. So, what do we do? Test!

Anyway, my race is on September 23rd and will be simulcast on Speedcast TV. I will send more links and information later. Any folks up in that area should make an effort to come over, as this venue is one of the best spectator tracks in the country as far as I'm concerned. We begin qualifying on Monday September 19 and we have 4 shots at it. Our qualifying will be the same time every day at 2:40 PM. This is different than it's been in the past where we had different times of day.

We've got the car almost ready to go. It's fast! I just have to get my shite together and get it done. The track is very technical and the Miatas will be very hard to beat as usual.

Hope to see you there.

260DET,

No Turbos. Road racing and turbos don't usually go together very well. Sanctioning bodies have a hard time controlling the balance of performance when you can reach down and dial up another 100 hp when you need it. The full prepped Miatas are light and already make good power, and when driven well, are very hard to beat.

I have no love for them but I respect their ability. Have you given any thought to a lightweight front airdam shaped like a snowplow blade? I have....

Good luck at Mid-Ohio!

I'll be at The Glen for the SVRA vintage races 8-11 September where there will be no Miatas in Group 8 thank you very much.

Really close qualifying competition at the front in EP.  Nice mention yesterday in the Tuesday Runoffs Wrapup video for Greg's fast time.  Newman, Sharp, Fitzgerald... Ira?  :)

Start at 15:00 min mark: http://www.scca.com/articles/2002770-video-tuesday-runoffs-qualifying-recap-show

Greasy little Miata nipped ahead today, but fast 3 are within a tenth of second or so.

We dropped down to 3rd today in final qualifying. Michael Goloti in an S2000 came out of nowhere and took the pole. Damn pro drivers. But we have a surprise for him. Race is tomorrow around 215 and live on scca.com.

Everyone else found a tenth or two.  Galati found 2 seconds.  :o

If you look at my live timing link a couple posts up, SCCA live video is there for the races.

Best of luck today!

The mighty Orange Crush Z still lives. Ended up 3rd. Collision during a pass with Galati on 2nd lap did not help our situation. Podium finish was good. Car was definetly capable of winning. Congrats to Greg for grabbing another trophy with the winningest Z car in history.
