I got a bitchin' shop office trash bin: Cylinder Liner from a 10x10 1/2" Superior Diesel...

Have a lamp similar to that made from a thrust collar and third stage pinion out of an Ingersoll-Rand 3C Centac air compressor...customer plasma cut the impeller without a shield and touched off the edge of the pinion...my EXACT phrase was "So you insisted your 30 years of experience was not requiring a $5 sheetmetal guard. Now your insistence on disregarding my recommendations just cost your company $55,000 and gave me stock to build the world's most expensive table lamp!"

Gun drilled it, added a copy thrust collar to cover their damage, and clear powder coated it. I wish I had a photo. Everybody in the business says "is that what I think it is?" LOL

  • 3 weeks later...

Finished this table today, pistons and rods are from a 302,the flywheel and stator at the top is from a 25hp kohler, the crank is from a l28 (badly spun bearing, had machine shop roll the journals down, and roll the snout down to fit it in kohler flywheel)

Bottom flywheel is from a l28 n/a, and the very bottom part is a drive sprocket from a skidsteer.

Also added pull chain sockets to the lamps, with little spark plugs.

Just put the whole lot up for sale, here's to hoping they sell.

Oh, I'm stealing that idea of welding the rods to the pins in the pistons and using them to support the glass like that.

I think I have an Evo trans input and output shaft, some gears, a clutch/flywheel, SBC camshaft, 4G63 crank/rods/pistons, bent stock Evo aluminum wheel.  Probably a SBC timing set, too.

After this winter I'll probably have the ring/pinion out of the 8.8 and the stock traclok as junk parts, too.
