First time for a lot us Z drivers at this daunting and very fast circuit, the budget V8 engined 280ZX stood out. Videos do not show the extent of the rise and fall here, basically you climb to the top of the mountain, run along the top and then dive down.

Yeh, this is all about if you have been there then you will understand, videos just not do it justice. Driver was scared shitless but still want's to improve, I salute him. If anyone here want's to participate in 2017 then I can hook you up, I don't care where you come from Bathurst will challenge you and you won't regret that.

With all those walls, trees and poles: that's a good place to die!

1972 240z, purchased in 1991 for $900. Bone stock LS2/T56/DBW from 2006 GTO, swap completed in 2011. 400rwhp/435 rwtq. 2400# minus driver. JCI swap, Mantic ER2 clutch kit, JTR headers, single exhaust, Borla muffler, MGW shifter, M2 Differentials shortened Z31 CV axles, Z31 CLSD R200, Chequered Flag Racing billet stubs and companion flanges. MSD 2-step, Hurst roll control, both operated from switches on clutch pedal. 9" Hoosier drag slicks on Weld Draglites, 245/45/16 Hoosier A6/R6 on 16X8+10 Rota RBR. 225/250 sectioned coilovers, Koni 8610-1437RACE shocks, DP and EMI camber plates, MM shortened rear control arms, TTT front control arms, poly and aluminum bushings. Top speeds: Ohio Mile 174mph, C/GMS class record holder, best 1/8 mile 6.96 at 100mph, best 1/4-mile 11.0 at 126mph, best 60' 1.43, best 1/2-mile 148mph at GA 1/2-mile. Plenty of scary front aero lift there if the car is not set up right, on the other hand with the 280ZX just a S30 type bobtail spoiler with a 35mm Gurney flap kept the rear planted nicely.

Front or back? I was getting front end lift because it's impossible with the present setup to get the car low enough and to adjust in some rake.

OK for all those rich Americans here this event is on again this year so we invite you to join us at the best circuit and event you will ever experience. Seriously, there will be over 30 S30's doing the Regularity which basically is what you make of it, most of us just go as fast as we can within a lap speed restriction that we can't reach anyway. Alternatively there are the Sprints which is like a continuous time attack where the fastest lap car wins, no restrictions but you will be up against some pretty fast pro or semi race cars and drivers.

 

C'mon, get out of the comfort zone, expand your horizons, try something different because you won't regret it. If you can keep off the walls, maybe.

Walls are no problem really, it's just part of a very intimidating circuit that takes some determination to start doing good laps.

 

On going overseas, I heard from a good source of a bloke who used to race a Corvette here. He decided to do some US west coast race series so he packed up everything and did the season. I bet that he never regrets doing that, ever.

Boss is begging off Sepang this year, and wants to go see Bathurst this year. I am not fighting this at all... I've been looking for an excuse  to see it since I was a kid.


Misanthropic Anthroparion Class 5 Hoarder, aspiring to posthumous fame as my containers are cut open and the market floods with crap I've squirrelled away over the years! I endeavour to persevere...
