question about tire size vs clearance to fender with new tires and Stagg shocks and springs

Recommended Posts

Hello,

Here is a pic of the current setup.  The setup is cut springs with Yoko 205/60R15 on Panasport rims

I am going to be putting on in a few weeks the Stagg shocks and spring stuff.   I know its going to raise the height of my car and the distance from my tire to fender.  If I dont like this setup I will give it a season or 2 and then go coilovers.  But for the price, hard to pass up as a get by thing.

I just got a flat and really all the tires need to be replaced.

Since I know I will gaining some height from the spring change, should I take advantage of that and go with 205/65r15 tires?  Cut down on the gap some and add a bit of extra cushion from a taller tire.

Or am I missing something.  This isnt my best subject and I have little experiance

And any thoughts on tires?

Thanks

Going to a 205/65R15 tire vs a 205/60R15 tire will hardly add much cushioning.  I feel like the money for a new set of slightly softer tires could spent more effectively else where such as on some nice shocks or control arm bushings.

As for the springs: I've run Stagg springs and I wasn't a fan, when I tested them on my spring rate tester they tested much stiffer than advertised and they added A LOT of ride height.

First off, that's a clean little Z you've got there. Nice work. Taller Tires are going suffer performance to some extent. Install your new stuff and drive it for a week or two and let the springs settle. If needed, cut down the springs equal to desired ride height. It's really pretty easy IMO. Jim
