Home Built by Jeff 0 Posted October 31, 2017 Haha, bog is what it is called here in Aus'. No idea where it comes from. I assume 'bondo' is or was a brand name of body filler in the US and has just become the term.

I suppose "body filler" is what the pro's call it. Bog is way better.

Home Built by Jeff 0 Posted November 3, 2017 (edited) This week I work away at finishing that terrible door. It is a lot of rust and a lot of work, but I am stubborn enough to keep at it. https://youtu.be/ZvTs-PMZolE Edited November 3, 2017 by Home Built by Jeff
Home Built by Jeff 0 Posted November 17, 2017 This week I have been back at it, cutting rust out of these doors. I am quite happy with how the repairs are coming along, but it is so time consuming. https://youtu.be/y9y4rWSP_OY
gogriz91 10 Posted November 20, 2017 Hopefully that's the last of the major rust repair.

I know the rear hatch has some nasty bog patches on it, so I am not holding my breath. Hopefully I will strip down the body tomorrow, but I am reasonably confident that is pretty good. Home Built by Jeff 0 Posted November 24, 2017 This week I gave paint stripper another go, and it works much better if it there are not 20 layers of paint and bog. The whole car is almost rust free now, just a couple of small bits to go. https://youtu.be/ahWcxJTxH1E
rossman 19 Posted November 25, 2017 If you open up closed sections of the unibody like the sills and frame rails you'll find that they are most likely covered with surface rust so "rust free" is a relative term when talking about these old Datsuns! I may have missed it but did you do a thorough inspection for rust under the car? Frame rails and of course, floor pans are common areas for rust. I'm enjoying the videos! Keep it up! Cheers, Ross
Home Built by Jeff 0 Posted November 27, 2017 The shell is really clean. I didn't cut open the frame rails, but I did have a thorough look under neath and it is really clean. I don't believe the removable panels are original to the car. My guess is that they were swapped out from an early car, as their condition doesn't match the shell. Home Built by Jeff 0 Posted December 1, 2017 Back into it after having my 911 build video go viral with over 11 million views in the first 5 days. This week it is time to fit some wheel arch flares to my Z. https://youtu.be/wUU_RbKB0B8 Jeff
Home Built by Jeff 0 Posted December 8, 2017 This week I have been fighting with the front end, trying to get all of the parts to fit neatly. https://youtu.be/IrmiyR5RYVQ
Home Built by Jeff 0 Posted December 15, 2017 This week I have started to build the roll cage for the Z, but of course in the process I discover more rust.... AAAAaaaarrrghhh!!! https://youtu.be/T0Je59bdHec

torynich 11 Posted January 20 My 10 year old son and I are loving your videos. His vote is for a rear bumper but I'm liking your metal work skills and think you should go the shaved bum route...
Home Built by Jeff 0 Posted January 20 Glad you guys are enjoying it. That is one of the reasons I don't swear in these, as lots of guys watch it with their kids. I think I am going to go somewhere inbetween, and keep the bumper but make it sit a bit tighter and smoother.
rturbo 930 28 Posted January 20 IMO the rear end is a little too plain without a bumper.
Home Built by Jeff 0 Posted January 26 This week I get stuck back into repairing the bonnet and then spend a heap of time trying to get the front bar lined up. https://youtu.be/6fjH2aVIhK8
Zetsaz 6 Posted January 26 I'd keep the rear bumper on. Only reason not to is for heavily modified cars or those that don't use the front. Weirdly enough, some of the cars from Star Road that have the full length front grill and bumper deletes are still using the rear bumper. I think it looks unbalanced. As far as the bonnet is concerned, for the cost of a new original one you could have one from carbon fiber. Of course some people have complained about small fitment issues with those as well, so it depends on what you're after.

I think the CF bonnet look is getting old these days and I would spend just as much time getting to fit properly (life the FG one on my 911).

That's the same reason I go back and forth on it in the future. If I did buy something like that in carbon, I would try to get a carbon or fiberglass hatch as well and match them to whatever paint I had on the rest of the car. Home Built by Jeff 0 Posted February 2 This week I manage to do some home built frame pulling and then I rebuild the spray booth. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F5iZq18gmu4&feature=youtu.be
softopz 15 Posted February 2 Your front bumper actually looked normal Like mine when I installed it. I believe your suppose to have the bracket loose ( the 2 main in the middle) mount the corners then go back and tighten it all. I could be wrong buts thats how I did it altough you wanted to tuck yours in a bit more.
