There is a rusty full-size 1989 bronco for sale locally with a good 5.0 EFI. Does anyone know how much these motors differ from the 89 Lincoln or Crown Victoria? Are automatic transmissions in these same in 2wd and 4wd version with separate transfer case, or unique to application (and in that case unuseable to use for Z swap if from a 4WD...? Was not aware that these things had 5.0 and so never checked into it before..

Thanks, Mike H

The truck 302`s had stronger rods than the cars did. other than that I`m not sure about engine differences. The 4x2 trans is definitely different from the 4x4 trans. That trans is also an electronically controlled E4oD which even if it weren`t 4x4 would not be suitable for the z swap.

If you are set on the ford swap, I recomend using the AOD trans that comes in most late 80`s ford cars.

as far as the powerplant goes... Why not go with the 351? It`s basically the same swap but has more cubes.
