Would you consider doing a thread on the sump pump set up you did (with pictures and everything)? Modifying my 240z for fuel injection has been a major headache.

in my build thread per your request: http://forums.hybridz.org/index.php/topic/100144-1973-s30-1973-s30-1998-z28ss-the-over-my-head-project/page__view__findpost__p__949587

Ok thought I would share our car and the progress- The car is a 1975 280 that we bought for $450- super solid factory automatic car.

1-Motor is a 2003 LS6, Callies Crank,H beam rods, Mahle pistons, thunder racing cam, CNC'd 243 heads, all studs top to bottom. Should make 410-430 whp

2- Transmission is an old school T-350 with an ATI converter with nitrous anti balloon plate

3-No Kit---used 1" dom for motor and fabbed the tranny mount as well

4-Nothing special required utilized a junkyard 5.3 harness, CTS-V pan and I built the mandrel exhaust with Columbia River bends

5-started around the 1st of June and should be running in a few more weeks.

1. 98 LS1. 799 Heads milled .035 for around 11.5:1 compression. Stock everything else.

2. T56 from same car. Monster Stage 3 clutch(6 Puck), eats everything behind it for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. If this thing had a kill/death ratio, it would be 7-0(1 10 bolt axle, 1 8.8 driveshaft flange, 4 datsun u-joints, 1 datsun axle bolts, 0 deaths)

3. Custom mounts. Ran DOM tubing from the crossmember back to where the TC rod mounts making it a "K" member. Then ran DOM tubing up to the stock F-body location mounts. Solid mounted. Custom trans mount as well.

4. External Walbro 255 pump/Corvette filter/regulator for fuel. Stock harness with unused stuff removed, re-wired entire car using Cooper Bussman 15300 fuse boxes. Look them up, they are awesome and only cost ~17 bucks. Hold 10 fuses/5 Micro relays, completely sealed. Radiator from a 80s model chevy G10 van with a V6. Cost ~70 bucks brand new, same core thickness as the stock LS1 radiator, bout the same height, width is about 5 inches shorter so it fits in between the frame rails. Has a spot for the steam hose as well.

Used exhaust manifolds from a 98 C5, couldn't make them fit facing down so I let the redneck side of me take over, next thing you know there is 3 inch pipe sticking through the hood vent holes. Definitely turns heads.

5. Started my project mid march, drove it back to school(2.5 hour drive) the first week in april. Only have spring break(7 days, 14+ hour days) and 3 weekends worth of work time on it. Of course I have done countless hours of work on it past getting it driving, these type of projects are never really "finished"

6. Sitting on Tokico lowering springs right now, blown tokico blues in the front, stock rear struts filled with power steering fluid. Body rolls like crazy. Eats U-joints on a daily basis. Custom ron tyler style diff mount as well. Also sporting the OBX LSD with the better bolts and thrust washers.

Current fastest time at my local 1000ft track is a [email protected] with a 1.91 sixty foot. Equates to a 12.0x give or take a tenth or two in the quarter. This was on 275/40-17 street tires.

And because everyone loves pictures.

OK. Since I jokingly suggested an LS1 Z car club I feel compelled to follow this thread.

My car is a 1972 240Z.

The motor is a 2002 LS1 from a Camaro SS with 20,000 miles. It has the LS6 block. The motor is stock.

The transmission is a T56 6 speed from a 2001 Trans - Am WS6

I used the JCI (Johns Cars Inc.) install components. JCI motor mounts, A/C setup, driveshaft, fuel pump, speedo signal converter, etc.

I used the JTR Trans Crossmember and Air intake system.

I had Speartech make a custom wiring harness and reprogram the computer.

I have the Sanderson Headers.

I started on the swap in May of 2004 and hope to have it back on the road this spring but no later than August in time for the international Z Car Convention.

The car has coilovers on all 4 corners with eibach springs, camber plates, Tokiko 5 way adjustable inserts, strut tower bars, poly bushings, etc.

Brakes are soon to be upgraded along with adding a 4 point rollbar and sub frame connectors.

That's all I can think of for now.

Oh yeah, I am in Maryland near Washington, DC

Lets hear from the rest of you so we can have a good resource for the newbees.

David and I traded cars last summer , now this sexy beast is mine , just join the forum. Her new name PLATA . See her as she sits today on new members page, I have done a few things , she is a blast and a sexy Z after all this time . Since in my care I have put over 5k mi and she is healthy and this summer she got the attention from judges at 3 local car shows .

Updates since I posted this so long ago. Car is 90% or more completed. It has been on the road since August 2005 and I have driven and enjoyed it for about 10K miles. Can now has a Q45 VLSD with MMS adapters, MMS 13" big Brake Kit, New NOS Dash with speedhut EL lighted stock gauges, Vintage Air AC/Heat system, Leather Recaro Seats and 16" x 7" Panasports. I have had it on a dyno and it made 340RWHP and 365 RWT. I have run it down the 1/4 mile track 2 times. Both runs were tracktion limited and I ran a 12.88 at 109mph. I have done 7 track days with the car and it has performed fantastic. The car is extremely reliable and also gets great fuel mileage. I got 30+ Miles per gallon on a 900 mile trip. I love my LS1 powered Z car. This is the way Datsun should have made them. 2007-zcon-03-0068B.jpg Studio Photo from the 2007 Z convention On_the_Road_240Z_LS1_and_510_godbye_053.Q45_Rear_Diff_Install_002.jpgNew_Evo_Seats_020.jpgquarter_mile_slip_002r.JPG
She is mine now, and today she gets my love , life is good, Lee

Here is my second LS1 conversion .

- 78 Z .

- Stock motor and auto trans from 02 Z28 with 60k miles .

- Did all the fab myself : motor mounts , trans. xmember , exhaust sys. .

- Reworked Z28 wiring harness .

- Using stock fuel pump ( seems to be ok at this time , puts out 55 psi. ) .

- Took about 6 weekends ( 4-5 hrs day ) to get her running and driving . Still have some detail work to do .
