It looks cool. Uhh...I am clueless on this too. It's written on the Nissan part on the album too and yet I still don't know what it is? This is driving me nuts, what is it? I

Ah ha! I think I know what it is now. I believe NVCS is the old school variable valve timing system used by Nissan. Pretty cool.

If I could figure it out, I would lol. Ladera Ranch, that;s not too far from me, are you dropping in a RB into your Z also?

240Z_Master,

I've considered the RB swap and originally I thought I was going to go that route. I wanted to do the RB26DETT, but its just too much money for me to pull off. I am keeping an open mind to the RB25DET right now, but am leaning more toward the LS1 swap. The reality of this is I am going to set up my car with the stock motor and hope I am able to save some money to fund the project I want. I figure it will take me a while to get the car up to snuff then decide.

Did you already do the swap or are you in progress?

people complain about less low end torque of RB26DETT than RB25DET.

RB25s have got NVCS on intake cam.

benefit:

stable idle with NVCS off (lobe center angle around 115)

low end torque with NVCS on (advanced to 95, much overlap)

high end power with NVCS off (retarded back to 115, less overlap)

What years of the RB25 have NVCS? All RB25s, or just the RB25DET?

R32: no

R33: early NVCS

R34: AKA NEO RB engines including RB20 came with improved NVCS. NA engine has wider timing advance cam gear and intake valves may hit stock pistons. NEO intake cams and aftermarket cams for NEO can be used on RB26.

I am planning to make a drysump oil pan.

rb26 pan on minimill.

I need both AC and power steering so could not find room for drysump pump.

The problem solved because I recently put the electric power steering system in my car.
