Thanks, I guess the metal is pretty hard so it would be hard for even a machinist to tap the whole properly.

The sleeves don't need to be anything special do they? Any hard steel pipe cut the correct size will work fine?

I want to get a Kazz 1.5 way for my R200 (stock R200 found in my car originally - 78 260Z) (I'll be using Z31T CV shafts)

The info I can find says a LSD for the S13/S14 open will fit with the correct spline count for Z31T stub shafts. The problem is there seems to be quite a lot of variations of this lsd and I want to make sure buy one that will fit.

I believe the bottom diff on this page will fit?

http://www.limited-slip.com/acatalog/S13.html

Thing is if I look up that part number on this page it seem to be for a viscous diff

http://www.driftworks.com/kaaz-lsd-differential-for-nissan-200sx-s13-s14-s15.html

Can anyone confirm which diff will fit because I'm having a hard time.

From what I have read in formus, If you find a r200 with the vlsd, you must have the matching cv axles for that vlsd.

If you buy a aftermarket vlsd for your r200, you may need those cv axles made for the vlsd unit.  It Maybe easier to find a clsd r200 and use the cv axles you already have. Or buy a Quaife lsd.

I don't want a VLSD, I want a CLSD, all the Kazz diffs are CLSD, My current diff is the stock open diff, not a VLSD unit.

I know there are KAZZ LSDS that fit my diff casing and have the correct spline count for my Z31T CV axels, I just need to somehow confirm which is the correct lsd before I buy it.

Are there any viscous halfshafts that have the same bolt pattern as the Z31T ones and that therfore I will also be able to use with my Z31T adaptors?

Reason being I want a Kazz 1.5 way lsd for my longnose R200 but unfortunatly Kazz only make 2 way replacements for the R200 open diffs, therefore for me to use a 1.5 way lsd I need to purchase a kazz 1.5 lsd for a viscous R200 unit and therefore I need the correct input shafts for whichever viscous replacement I go for. However I still need to use my Z31T cv adaptors so whichever viscous shafts I get need to have the same bolt pattern at the outboard (stub shaft) end.

I have looked at this thread in the past and completely missed the part where an S13 lsd will work in the long nose R200.

If no one minds, delete me if you feel the need but I made a thread because I didn't see/comprehend the info here.

Any aftermarket S13 lsd made for an S13 open diff will fit into a long nose R200 and work with the stock 280Z stub shafts as well as the Z31T axles.

Does anyone see a problem with that statement or is it unnecessary?

Update regarding the Power Brute LSD by Precision Gear....does not appear to be available any longer for most of our common applications (R180 & R200).  Precision Gear was purchased by another company (Omni-ADA) last year, who specializes in 4x4 off-road equipment, and the LOM55E/L and the LOM59-12 are listed as discontinued models.   BUMMER!!!     :(

I apologize in advance if this info was posted elsewhere and I missed it.  Wanted to make sure it was out there so folks don't waste their time going down rabbit holes.  If I'm wrong, someone please correct me (I would LOVE to be wrong, in this case!)

Thx for the correction, JM.  The strange thing I found was that Precision Gear's website is still public (with an update of 2013), and it lists 2 units for the R180....maybe they were not keeping it current the last few years?

I don't like to post in the FAQ threads but this seems like it might be appropriate.  clarkspeed posted a link to a site, about shocks, but the site also had a pretty good description of the different differential options and how they behave.

http://farnorthracing.com/tech_quaife.html  (after 175 posts, maybe it's already in here...)

I remember there being a difference with bolt size, 10mm vs 12mm in the S30/130 R200 and Z31. I can't remember which is which, though.

EDIT: Ugh, didn't realize how old that discussion was. Going to search and see if I can find it but if anyone knows off the top of their head it would be very helpful.
