Tri-state (NYC) Z's try#2

I just finished looking at the maps and I think to be fair we should do something, near Northern Jersey/NY border. The Paintball field seems like a good spot or to be a little more neutral maybe we can meet in Harriman State Park. There are a few day-use-areas that we can use for parking and hanging out. There are barbecues and benches and tables. There are also places to swim in the lakes along Seven Lakes Drive.

Harriman State Park

If we do a cruise from Harriman SP, there are plenty of places to cruise to:

Cold Spring, NY

Millsan's Paintball Field in Jersey

Rag's Place

Bear Mountain

Perkin's Memorial Drive (hillclimb).

Route 9, 9D, or 9W wind along the Hudson River.

Backroads in the Wanaque areas of Northern Jersey.

Should be fun.

Someone is going to have along haul either way because we are all fairly well spread out. The majority balance is in NJ which tends to draw the common sense location towards Northern Jersey or Central Southern, NY. CT would be a haul for everyone in NJ, especially those more Southern. A two hour drive in a well prepared Z would not stop me on a nice day. A rainy day might be a different story. Meriden is 1:30 from me and I am pretty close to CT already. For everyone in NJ, that would be 2+ hours. Danbury is fairly doable though if we want to move it East an hour.

Danbury hosts car shows at "Marcus Dairy" right off of route 84, every weekend. maybe we could tie into that. I think it's on Saturdays for cars and Sundays is Bikes.

I think we should let EvilC either make a decision or start a new thread with a poll. Clive?

By the way, TeamNissan, I used to race BMX bikes over at Braddock Park over near you. I used to live right over the GW from you, in da bronx.

I'd definitely be down for something in late July or early August. I don't post much on here but I do read a lot, and it would be great to finally meet some people from this site. I'm preparing my ZX for a trip to AZ in August so a driving a couple hours down to a meet should be no problem. I'll be coming down from 12309, bringing my 280zx. The paintball field sounds great, I have my own gun and gear but haven't had a chance to go in like 2 years. :)

Well, if it still matters, the meet at my house will be on the 25th of August, not the 18th like I planned. I forgot there might be a drift event in CT on the 18th.

So the NY/NJ guys can still have and plan thier meet for early august or late July, and everyone in the NE is still invited to the little shin-dig that I'm having on the 25th...

I used to live right around the corner from there :-). That must have been years ago, my brother used to race there too. Now its some bs walking path lol. after james vincint stopped sponsoring races it turned into a smoking spot. Then the town got tired of it and made it a dog walking park and walking path. truely sad..........

Cygnus, unless the rules have changed, the Marcus Dairy car show cuts the year at 79. I was laughed at for having a car from Japan. He said "put a 350 with a blower in it, then we might let you in".

I haven't been back since.

Ignorance at its finest.

Hmm, I was there with my Z about 5 years ago and took no flak. I don't ever go there so I don't know the "rules". Anyhow, we want to avoid any possible aggravations so we should avoid that place for now.

TeamNissan,

It was years ago! The bikes were carried on my parents 82 Ford Escort. Sad to hear that it's no longer a positive place for kids to enjoy.

Time--> 2:00 pm

I was thinking this would be the best time of the day due to travel for some and I am thinking if anyone has family duties to take care of can take care of them first.

Well now that the "hard" part has been taken care of....we will have a three day suggestion part of the thread goingon. Everything will be finalized by friday so speak up now if you would like to see something done.

Sounds good to me. Just means that I have to come back from vacation a day early. I'd assume we make it an "everyman for himself" and just bring what you'd like to consume. Hell if we find a shady spot to bulls**t I might rip out the wax!
