(dumb question alert!) How would you remove an RB from an engine stand?...

lift an Rb26 short block off an engine stand? Sounds simple enough right?

I have an Rb26 short block ready to go to the machine shop, hanging on an engine stand. It sagged a lot on the stand (not the Nissan-style side mount, but the Harbor Freight 2000lb'er), and I'm just not sure how to pick it up with the hoist and not damage the oil pan or the head gasket surface.

Multiple ways to do it. I end up moving motors around by myself all the time.

Nylon Rope works. If you can tow a car with it why not lift a motor?

You might find it easier to remove the pan and all the internals. Bolt the crank girdle back on.

As for the engine stand. They can hold the weight. Mine is attached using RB20 main bolts.

I was thinking, nylon rope or ratchet straps...I just wasn't sure the pan would take the weight.

Mine sags just like that on my stand, I'm always worried I'll find it on the floor of my garage.

You'd be surprised, but old seat belts work great for engine hoists ,etc...

Old tires make excellent bump stops, cradels for engines.

We actually hoisted my motor by a seatbelt when I bought it, but I don't trust my knot tying ability...

haha...I could just ship it to you and you could figure out how to get it off the stand!!!

Thanks for all the help guys!

Yeah, that would be just fine. But don't forget the turbo, intercooler, and other neat stuff. I won't fodder your life by returning them though. I'll send you my uber-cool N/A V8 instead.

PSHHHH.

Jitter and I drag engines across fields with with broken rubbermaid bins and do the lift-and-toss into truck beds like nobodies business.

CAUSE IT AIN'T CHO'R BUSINESS!

*runs away with seat belt straps and RB30's*

For some reason, this post conjures images of an event in the World's Strongest Man competition...the RB Toss!

Awe, that's okay. Just throw it in w/ the rest o' the junk.
