Leaving block outside without coolant when it's going to freeze

Recommended Posts

Let me first preface this and say that it doesn't freeze here very often so it's not old hat to me like it probably is most other people.. haha. Anyway, I've got an engine sitting in my willys that doesn't have any coolant in it and it may freeze tonight. It's my understanding that what harms a block is when the water in it freezes and expands putting pressure on everything. So am I safe to assume that without water or coolant in the engine I have nothing to worry about?
