Turbocharger prices and choices

I am working on my L28ET and am in need of a turbo; what should I pay for a used, but in spec, stock Nissan T3? Also, what is everyone else using and where did you buy it/how much did you pay?

I paid $100 for mine which I got off another member here. You ought to be able to get one in that price range.

Or you can get a t3 from the 300zx(84-86). Its also watercooled. You local Junkyard should have them.

really depends on how much modifying you want to do... If you want to just modify the intake side to be bigger i would look into t3/t4 turbos.

 

Is you dont wanna modify at all the i would just stick with stock t3..

I can't tell from your question if you are looking for advice if you should change from a T3, but if you are, then I'd suggest starting out by setting a HP target. From there you can calculate the max airflow and PR (pressure ratio) and look at the compressor maps for various turbos to see how well they perform at that those flows. Also, it will tell you how big your injectors need to be, and how big of a fuel pump you need. It also let's you properly size your intercooler piping (assuming you're going to add one). Corky Bell's book Maximum Boost will walk you through all the calculations - it's really not hard to do.

 

But basically everything starts with your HP target! It's hard to answer questions about alternate turbos without knowing it.

Just wanted to throw this out I have a t3/t4 turbo on my l28et and damn it makes my car fly plus they can handle a good 400, 500, even 600 horsepower.
