SPAL Power Window kit install

lol I think managing what you eat for lunch will have a bigger impact on your car's weight than this kit...

Just spent 30 minutes on the elliptical machine this morning! :ugg:

Need to get back down to racing weight.

Some OEM power window assemblies are pretty heavy. I just wanted to avoid that. The motors look really small, so I'm guessing this one isn't so bad.

Anyway, this is an awesome write-up. Great job.

The whole kit weighs in at roughly 3-5 lbs, if that....

I did look into the door jamb wire boots on their website. However, $10 PLUS another $8 for shipping = $18 for a set of rubber boots :rolleyesg

I spent $2.50 on my "custom" wire boots

Thanks for the compliments on my write up !

Wanted to add an install on the early s30. Finally [had the kit for about 4 months now] got my Spal power windows installed, here are a few pics. Wiring run through the pin switch hole, drilled another in the door. We used high pressure fuel injection hose with grommets. Works great, they're quiet and I can finally open & close the windows without getting out of my harness!

Still need to take pic with panel on-fits great and does not bow out at all. The kit is universal, as are the switches. I pulled this number from the switch instruction sheet; COD 3304 0128. I purchased the kit and switches from evilc, perhaps he can chime in with the specifics.

I'm also worried about all those plastic gears, but is there a reasonable alternative? Everything is made of plastic these days.

Has anyone bought the kit from MSA? Looks like it might be the same exact thing marked up.

Also FWIW: "Shipping Weight: 10.00 pounds"

I've had mine installed for a year now. Nothing but good things to say about the kit. Plastic gears fit over the crank stub very tightly and I feel there is really no chance of them stripping.

I bought my kit from whoever was selling them the cheapest online. :)
