FSB mounting points/ Bellhousing Bolt Pattern

Ok, this is a simple question but I have literally spent two hours researching and have not found a definitive answer. Hopefully someone can answer because I am looking at purchasing a 240z with a 351 cleveland engine installed and want to know what other motors / transmissions I will be able to swap in with the existing mounts and driveshaft? Ideally I would like to swap in a more modern and efficient EFI motor from late model fords. So have the engine and transmission mounts changed over the years? Has the transmission bolt pattern changed? and has the output shaft from the transmission changed?

Thanks

I don't think the 4.6L uses the same mounts.

From what I understand the 351W (and 351C) share the 289/302 motor mounts and bellhousing bolt patterns. You should be able to swap in a 289, 302, and 351W using the same mounts. Your drive shaft would depend on the tranny you use, most likely you will need to change it.

You would just need to watch for hood and exhaust clearance issues.

Thanks, I am pretty sure you are right. Another option I suppose is an EFI conversion, which would be cool too ... perhaps even a better option. Anyway thanks for helping me out and Ill post pictures up if i end up getting the car.

well I ended up buying the car. Turns out it is a 302 windsor with edelbrock manifold and carb. Spent the day ripping out the interior and removing the sound deadening. There is some surface rust, but nothing too bad :). Carb is tuned super rich also so gotta do some tuning, and since it is a windsor, an efi swap shouldn't be a big deal using mustang parts. There are some other issues with wiring and tune as well, but they shouldnt be too difficult to take care of.
