  1. Wow, they obviously weren't the brightest thieves. Where did they eat, maybe the place they went to has some security tapes you can go check out. Definitely give the car a good look over for anything they might have left behind. I'd love to see those numb nuts get caught. But at least there isn't significant damage to the car. Make sure you before you go back on the road to make it as secure as possible. I'd even go as far as a hidden camera in the front somewhere haha.
  2. Glad to see you were able to find it. Whats the damage?
  3. The best thing to get, a small gps tracking device. Place it in your car, the moment you find it stolen, check your computer, it'll give you real time gps as well as logging the previous gps coordinates. There not too expensive nowadays.
  4. If the person who stole your car is any good, he could have your entire car dismantled within a half hour after it being stolen, especially since you've got some nice stuff in it. My friends dad got his stolen about 2 weeks after fully restoring it and the cops found it about 45min later completely dismantled, took everything but the exhaust system. Z's are very easy to take apart. If you are lucky enough to find it, and I really do hope so, get a detachable steering wheel, its the best thing you can do, in addition with an alarm system. If you want to go all crazy, then get a lowjack, and make sure you always garage it. By the way, I called my uncle over in Carlsbad, and told him about your Z. He told me he saw your post on craigslist and how its a darn shame that some b***ard(s), stole you car. So he is also keeping a look out for it.
  5. Well if it is just salvaged because of water damage then there no real problem with the car. It's not like the car was in a crash where it could have really messed the frame and chassis up. So I would say your good on this one, although, I would still really look well for rust. You should really inspect the rear hatch, floors, under the battery tray, and the frame rails for any sign of rust. Any rust can be fixed though, its just a matter of how far you will go in caring for it. You might be able to knock off some bones on the car because it does have a salvaged title on it. Like I mentioned, as long as there is no physical damage to the chassis you should be home free, it'll be a little more difficult to sell though. Not sure how insurance works with salvaged titles. As far as the sunroof, I'm not sure I can help you on that one, but see if there is any rust around it. And if it does leak, a little weather stripping should solve that. EDIT: If the water just went to the bottom of the doors, you might want to replace the carpets because mold and mildew linger deep in the fabric. Ask him if it was drivable after the flood too, that could help a lot.
  6. Hey man, amazing build. Looks very mean with that flat black look to it, especially when that hood is popped.
  7. Coming along real nice. What's the radiator and intercooler setup you have there?
  8. I'm definitely keeping my eyes peeled for this gorgeous green z over here in SFV. I really do hope you find the vehicle and the criminal gets caught. Those low down good for nothing thieves out there man, I really wish the best of luck with searching, and like I said I shall keep an eye out for it as well as post it up on my facebook.
  9. Stunning, absolutely stunning. That is a very clean looking z, props to you man. Btw, what radiator and intercooler did you use? Dimensions?
  10. Pat, I greatly appreciate all of your help, couldn't have asked for more. You'll be one of the first I credit for my build. Also, if anyone can point me to an awesome store for guages, speedo, boost, oil, water temp, etc.
  11. Oh I had no idea, I even did a search, and nothing came up so I figured I'd start one. My bad. I actually kind of like the first one, LOLSMOG. That's so perfect!
  12. You got really lucky with a free z, how'd you get it? I thought the first one meant 1 LS v8 Datsun (meaning ls powered). or perhaps it could go both ways? either way pretty awesome. I really like GODZLA. Would love to do that one.
  13. Right, well besides the intercooler and piping and of course the walbro inline fuel pump, is there anything I need or perhaps I'm missing? Any other modifications to the z itself I would have to go through. Perhaps, I would need to upgrade the suspension as well as disk breaks for the rear correct? Or is that not really a necessity for the rb engine? I know that you need it for sure on a v8 conversion, but its not like I'm going to have that crazy amount of hp and I'm definitely not racing it.
