  1. 2003 350Z, new aftermarket clutch, pressure plate, throw out and pilot bearing. Has a strange noise ONLY while in gear and ONLY between 3500 and 4000 RPM (or thereabouts) Really hate to pull tranny again but have no idea what this is, thoughts? Starter seems to be "dragging" also, have to jump it with another battery to get it to fire, no previous starter problem. Sons' car, pretty sure everything installed properly, never seen(heard) this in 35 years of fooling with cars, Any thoughts?

  4. Trying to cut as little as possible on 240. Should I use both old ignition wires, 1 went through ballast and one did not ( ballast removed) to supply 12V to the electromotive set up? Since 1 is hot during cranking only and other is run only, the millisecond it takes for key position to switch shouldn't hurt anything right? Trying to utilize existing wiring but will add a relay for power to Electro later when I figure out where to relay and mounting base.
  5. The ZX alternator has a condenser mounted on it that was tied into the ZX wiring, have no place for it to plug in on 240. I have removed voltage regulator from '72 it had a condenser mounted next to it ,,,,,,,,,, Do I need condenser? If so where does it need to be plugged in?
  6. New springs and struts installed. New brakes at rear, hoses, lines, cylinders, heavy metal shoes with 510 cast drums. Now to the front.
  7. Ok it's not a Z but may have part of one in it soon. 1st off I'd rather be working on 1 of the Z cars but need this ready to go by fall. 1984 Nissan "Mirage" camper. Fiberglass shell on truck platform. In 5th there is a steady thunk, thunk ,thunk or knock, knock, knock if you prefer from the transmission it' in 5 th gear under a load only. Not real loud but very steady till you let off the gas. Carrier bearing rubber was bad so changed it, noise still there. Pilot bearing? Input bearing? Output bearing? Something loose? Is this what happens to Z car trannys, never experienced it but have read about "nut" coming loose. What might it be? Is it worth fooling with? ie simple fix Will 82 ZX tranny bolt in?   8. F54 dished pistons, O ringed P79, standard bore just freshened up. 2 stage NOS, alcohol injection, 600 Holley. R200 3.54 LSD, new springs struts etc, All I need is more money,,,,,,,,,, More info later just wanted to post a pic I could tie a link too. Mike in Arkansas

  10. Trying to piece this together and have some general and some specific questions. I am sure FI is a lot better way to go in many respects but the Turbo Tom set up sure looks cool. Gonna set up a couple solenoids and regulators on it so I can run 8 lbs and 14 lbs of boost with a toggle switch in the cab. Tom's water injection system will be installed and and probably plumbed to work on 14 lbs setting only (with a little alcohol in it) It's tapped for NOS in the carb base plate, might give it a small shot later on. It's a stock, standard bore 82 turbo motor with an O ringed P79 head. When I took it apart it had 2 head gaskets on it, guessing it was for lots of boost and the NOS. Remember NO intercooler. Do I really need 2 head gaskets for the boost I plan to run? Going in my '72 240 and need distributor help. What dist. can I bolt in that will allow me to either use a pressure switch on the manifold or an MSD unit to retard ignition? Should I remove dist. vacuum advance? Retard how much and when with this setup? Thanks, Mike
  11. Looking at the back of the 1970 fuel/amp gauge there are 2 terminals on the left, 1 on the right, what color goes where? Thanks
