  1. i am using the coil packs off a stealth/3000 gt (diamond f-608). the stock bracket is easy to mod for installation near the battery. mounting the ford coil pack on the block makes the plug wires too short. cylinders 4 & 5 will almost be coil on plug. i don't own a camera for any picks.
  2. initially i thought of mounting the 36-1 wheel on the front of the balancer, but was worried about vibration problems. redrill the powersteering pully to repace the water pump pully, modify the lower alternator bracket to move the alternator foreward, flip the alternator top bracket for adjustment and the wheel can be mounted closer to the motor. the 81 a/c bracket has a nice stock adjustable bracket for the vr sensor to mount on. for my install the explorer sensor lined up better than the one off of the mustang. hope this helps your installs.
  3. max torque from the xls program has the maxima set-up 2429 and the mustang set-up 3609. 2042 is the max required on conservative estimates. how accurate is the program? 48.6% difference does not seem right...
  4. new rear idea: 1) 87 maxima brakes and rear 84 300zx na rotor; 11.4" solid rotor 2) 93 mustang brakes and front 84 300zx na rotor; 10.83" vented rotor would the loss of 0.57" be worth the gain in a vented rotor and additional pad area? i have both caliper and bracket sets. i'm just looking for different points of view on the rotor opotions.
  5. 73turbo240z- how much boost was the other car running with which cam? the hvc coil only kicks out an extra 2K volts over the blaster 2 coil. i know the accel super coil calims a 10K volt increase over the blaster 2, and works with the msd. be prepared to change the cap and rotor regularly with the set-up though. boostin280zx- q3 and q5 blew on mine which caused odd behavior with my v2.2 board and the factory fi relays. i believe people are hunting second gen rx7 low imp. injectors (? flow rate), and the settings are for the stock nissan sensor.
  6. i believe that john at ccw was able to easily wedge 275's under your set up. 275-45-17 clear my front flares, which is what i believe your off-set is all the way around.
  7. ground control set-up with 275 front and 325 rear springs give hardly any squat, but is stiff. i also have 275-40-17 front and 315-35-17 rear, which will give the car a stiff ride anyhow. i have heard of people removing the rear swaybar with springs over 275 to help with your goals. definately move the front struts to the rear and install the mr2 front struts as suggested. koni's are too stiff, tokiko's seem to work out the best, kyb will have you utilizing their warranty as long as you don't mention the car is lowered.... and if your wondering, this car does not drift at all. which is just the way i set the car up for how i like to drive.
  8. if your triggering with the white wire, the 8910 is cheap enough. if your using the green / violet wires an autogage in dash tach may be your best option. or i could try and dig up my 8920 if your interested in it.
  9. the wires come off of the main engine bay harness. if i remember correctly the power for the switches splits from the blue/red wiper power wire. try chasing from there.
  10. fab a battery box and install it behind the passenger seat. relatively easy cut and hack hides the battery. i used the shortest battery i could find since the taller honda batterys don't have a high current rating. if you have the r230 diff, the half shafts are pretty close to the battery box; r200 had plenty of room. when your rewire the engine compartment hide the wires under the fenders versus running along the frame, kind of a show car deal since your rewiring any way. that is something i regretted not doing. running the wires in the bottom radiator support versus across the front looks a little cleaner too.... i can't figure a cleaner way to run the fi though. Does anyone know where to get the bare male and female blade connectors that will fit in the factory plastic connectors??? a ton of weatherpack connections seems overkill.
  11. 73turbo240z- why use 6+ versus the btm? if you have'nt purchased the msd yet why not use msII with the 3000GT/ stealth coils (40k volts - 45k volts) and go distributorless. i'm just partial to how clean the engine bay looks with coil packs. boostin280zx- 1) use easytherm and download the s19 with the extra file. make sure to use the custom selection. -18 = 7600, 68 = 2250, 176 = 290 settings had my water temp within a couple of degrees. 2) is your spark output inverted (spark > spark settings > spark output inverted)? see if switching it helps. also make sure the transistor on your board is good, mine wasn't and caused hours of headaches..... 3) check your start-up settings (crank/warm-up > cranking/ prime table). you can adjust how and when the injectors fire during startup. my car liked a total of 4.3ms at 80 degrees. double check the extra cranking fuel enrichment (crank/warm_up > more cranking stuff) to see if it is set to flood the motor. hopefully you don't have a stuck injector like i did. that will dump plenty of fuel while you are adjusting / loading ms files.
  12. if you are not using spark control from ms then wire the green and violet wires to the distributor (mimicking a magnetic pick-up) and use the tach out of the msd box for pin 24. if you have a 6AL / BTM then i see no reason for ignition control form ms. that set up worked fine with a 6AL and a 78ish magnetic pick-up distributor.
  13. the edis system works. i need to address a fuel leak issue before any street time, but the spark tests passed. i have a v2.2 board with 2.25b531 installed. the 81 turbo adjustment bracket with the explorer vr lined up perfectly with an adapter made out of a piece of sheet metal. relatively easy set-up.
  14. i used the cable out of a newer civic. works with the 240sx throttle body and gas pedal mod. you only need to file two small notches in the firewall where the throttle boot is.
  15. i'm too lazy to rethread. just stack another plastic spacer off of another throttle body, and the throttle cable out of a civic lines up. this is useless if your still using linkage though.
