  1. the screw on the comp for test mode also controlls the acc? ive never heard of that one i know there is a screw on the back of the acc but this has no effect i was thinking the acc was just faulty
  2. its an 86 turbo 5spd and i have been having problems trying to get it smogged in CA i have attempted 3 times when the car is set to the correct timing 15 btdc it idles high around 10 -1100rpm and runs great when smogged it passes everything almost like a brand new car but i get failed for high idle this time i turned the timing down till it idled at 800rpm only problem was it was at like 0-5 btdc and ran pretty shitty - i rigged the timing mark to read as though it was at 15 btdc so the smog tech would think it was were it was supposed to be when it was really at 0-5 btdc - well like i said it ran like @#$%& and when smogged it passed everything except HC (hydro carbons i think) and well i attribute this to the shitty running from the low timing probably a bit of a missfire or something as well with that lame of timing anyone got any ideas on what to do to get the car to run at 7-800rpm idle at 15btdc - i have went through i replaced almost all vac lines with no change and replaced both gaskets on the aac valve - the only thing i can come up with is to try a new aac valve? becasue when i unplug one of the things going to it the idle drops - i think maybe its stuck on high idle or something
  3. got a regular nissan 5spd (has always been smooth and just started to grind some on 2nd gear downshifts) and open r200 - i was thinking of using a regular 80w90/atf fluid mix in the trans and maybe the diff what do you guys think - i was thinking somewhere in the 50-75% 80w90 and 50-25% atf in the trans - i read a few post about mixing some auto trans fluid making for better fluid flow and smoother quicker shifts in the trans and probably an 75-80% 80w90 and 25-20% atf in the diff - dont know if i should put any atf in the diff???
  4. lol really who gets an 8 in or 8.5in rim to rock a 195 tire - lol
  5. at least its just the flex line and not the hard line i had to drive my car home once with no rear brakes and let me tell you im glad that e brake worked
  6. i have a set i got from msa 2- 3 years ago - they never fit right no matter what i did - i just painted my front end and am trying to remount them and still no matter what there are big gaps - im hoping i just got a bad set or something cuz this is horrible
  7. here are a few more pics of how the front wheel sits in the front fender and the hood ( i also have tinted headlight covers to put on) wheel in front fender = just about perfect some of the hood - i need to redo a bit of it but like i said im just going for looking decent crusing down the road till i save up money for real paint and body
  8. well ive been workin on the 240 a bit - been painting - going white and black right now - still need to touch up some areas ( the door and all the chrome trim in black) but its deff a decent looker when rolling down the road i was surprised for spray can - added wheels an tires - i was trying to figure the right adapter with the right offset and all this garbage but no one would send me any pics of anything so heres this set up for future reference - Wheels - falken sceptor fwd garbage 17x7.5 42mm offset tires - sumitomo HTR Z 2 AA trac A temp 220 treadwear 225/45/17 Adapters - 4x4.5 to 4x4.5 1.5in - also did the toyo 4x4 4 piston brake upgrade - super easy - looks good - and just sitting in my driveway the brakes allready feel 10973209327 times better - Just unbolted the break line at the caliper unbolted the caliper. Popped the rotor hub assembly off checked bearing and greas condition removed the brake shield thing and popped the hub assembly back on. loaded the toyo 4 piston caliper with brand new porterfield R4-S pads bolted them on using the original bolts bent the brake line and reattached. Bled and all is good - now its almost ready for the 3.1 sitting in the garage heres how my week started got them mounted and balanced - weights on the inside only - hate good lookin rims with weights on the outside then to the brakes then wheels and tires - here are some clearance pics Rear clearance glad i got the 45 series but still need to lower it some - probably just wait and do some coil overs in a bit heres a few with the front fender just sat on there not fitted and bolted up
  9. well this is really an on off thing some ppl seem to like it some not - i guess i better just wait and get the car on the track a few times without the rear bar to see how it works without one and if it does i guess there is no need or one thanks for the input guys
  10. thanks tuff - i saw the addco piceses - right now to me the suspension techniques one from summit looks good - looks like everything i will need at $240 anyone got any positive or negative input on any kit? i wonte be buying for a few weeks
  11. the msa set is about the same price but has a 7/8in rear as opposed to 3/4in on the summit suspension techniques - but the techniques one looks like it comes with a better kit with all the hardwear and everything. Has anyone got the msa kit? does it have everything the techniques kit has - i may give them a call later but unless someone says somethign really good about the msa kit ill probably just order through summit
  12. is that a bad idea Johnc? am i not heading in the right direction and i guess a smaller rear bar is the way to go?
  13. allright i have a 70 240 and i want to do a bit of suspension work i have gotten new tires and wheels along with new generic shocks and msa springs and have replaced all bushing with a poly kit and went through the rest of the suspension - so mostly stock with new parts. would a rear sway bar now be a good addition - i will be looking at autoxing the car a bit down the road and i want a nice firm car (i have an 86 turbo with the factory adjustable suspension and i always leave it on firm i love it) (after the motor install will probably be doing some coil overs and adjustable shocks along with a few other things). I am no suspension expert but i think i would like to have a car that i could push in hard and correct easy with over steer. the 70 came with no rear sway bar at all so i was wondering were i could get a decent one as a kit that would install in the rear. all i have seen is swaybar kits sold front and rear and the rear is always smaller i was actually looking to get the rear the same size or a bit bigger than the front what do you guys think i should do? i guess getting a set and doing the front sway bar as well wouldnt be a bad idea like i said im not suspension expert and also what is involed in installing a rear swaybar on a 240 that came with none - the car right now is fairly stock but the 3.1 in the garage only needs an oil pump water pump timming chain kit a head gasket and headbolts so its on its way searched but wasnt all that successful
