  1. Yahoo moved all my photos to Flickr.com so the above link will no longer work. They're also now all lumped together so I'll have to re-organize and put them back in order (when I have more time). Here's the new link: http://www.flickr.com/photos/hgeorge1/ Hudson
  2. Sorry it took so long but this link will take you to all the pictures I could find of different things I've done with the car...so far. Remember it's a work in progress. http://new.photos.yahoo.com/hgeorge1@swbell.net/albums Hudson
  3. mrkopsho, believe me, I can't afford to pay anybody to do the work either. The class cost $150 for eight weeks (only meet Thurs and Fri) at a local technical school. It's an evening class 6PM - 9PM, and everybody there has a project car, truck or motorcycle. The instructor tells you what you need to do to fix a problem, shows you how to use the tools needed and moves on to the next person...and checks back ocassionally to make sure you're not messing it up too bad. It's a good deal because you get to use all the tools, equipment and facility...plus there's a paint booth for when you're ready to paint (the instructor makes sure you don't screw up the paint job...he said paint's too expensive). You just have to pay for sandpaper and paint. As far as the pics...I already started sanding, welding and filling, but I'll take some pictures when I go to class tomorrow...Wish I had taken some pics of all the bad areas before I started. Take care. Hudson
  4. I like the way you that...I feel the same way. I bought a 1983 280ZX with digital dash with T-Tops early 2006. The engine was swapped and now has an SBC 350 and it runs sweeeet!!! - Custom made engine and transmission mounts. - GM 700r4 transmission. - JTR radiator with flexalite shroud and 16" fan. - MSA type 2 body kit on-hand (not yet installed) - MSA taillight speaker box on-hand (not yet installed). - Digital dash (plan on swapping to analog aftermarket guages) I'm taking an Autobody class right now and trying to fixing all my dents, dings, and rust so I can paint it. Think I'll have to sign up for the Autobody 2 class so I can get it all done (Overhauling and other car shows makes it look so easy). Now I know it's not...it requires a lot of patience and a lot of sanding. I have developed much respect for you autobody gurus and do-it-yourselfers. "Bodyworkin' ain't easy." Going on year 3 in a few months and she's still spending all my money .
  5. I'm definitely interested in a pair. It would be one (or 2 if we get technical ) less thing for me to worry about on my interior re-upholstery. Thanks. Hudson
  6. Last weekend I installed a Taurus fan on my JTR radiator but didn't like the spaces around it. I read about the (16") eBay fan in the HBZ forums and bought this one: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=260016261071&category=33600 The idea of mounting it directly to the radiator seemed scary to me (plus my JTR documents was against it). I drew up a simple diagram for a custom shroud and took it to my local sheet metal shop, they made it out of aluminum for $15. This weekend (Saturday), I did some minor modifications for fitting (hose clearance, etc) and installed it with the fan. It left me with a lot more room and looks much nicer (I think). Cools better too. Follow the link for some pictures: http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/hgeorge1@swbell.net/album?.dir=/fbcbscd I have the drawing with measurements in a MS Word document if anyone needs it. Hudson
  7. Nealio240Z, There's no such thing as too much power...however, having more than you need does tend to give one a reserved sense of...Ah hell, you're right, it is cool! Wish my engine was that shiny and unmolested . Hudson
  8. Yup! I concur...of course Sam looks pretty good...and she can catch dinner too
  9. As promised, here is a link to the pictures of my JTR radiator installation with Ford Taurus fan. There are 47 pictures because I tried to show as much as I could (but sometimes I forgot to take pictures) of the process, from unpacking to completion. http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/hgeorge1@swbell.net/album?.dir=/93d8scd&.src=ph&.tok=phO7BTFBooVQxFng If you can't click it, cut and paste it. I had to take it all apart again when I dropped a wrench into the bottom radiator bracket while tightening the last bolt on the bottom of fan brace (it slipped under the radiator). After that, I found it easier to install the bottom brace bolts before putting the radiator into the bracket. The top bolts were much easier to install. I was able to use steel bolts (1/2" by 1/4") and nuts (12 cents & 6 cents at Lowes) for the braces and everything on the fan (didn't want to mess with tapping). I went to the local sheet metal shop and got stainless steel braces 20" long and 1" wide (hopefully more durable than aluminum). They made them out of scrap and let me have them for free. They now have a loyal customer! ------------------------------------------------------------------- I made the brackets (the small ones for the right side) out of one of the braces. I also had some 1/2" wide bars in case I needed cross braces, but didn't have to use them. --------------------------------------------------------------------- I probably could have saved some money by ordering some of the hoses you guys had listed, but sometimes I hate to wait. I used: Autozone P/N: 60982 for the top (spliced to existing hose) AutoZone P/N: 62116 and 61458 (spliced) for the bottom. If I had paid attention to the routing of the bottom hose, I could have found one piece that would have worked. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Sorry if I babbled, if there are any questions, please ask. Thanks.
  10. Hello all, I'm a newbie and I've been browsing the site pretty regularly for the last month or so getting ideas for my 280ZX with a completed V8 swap (still fine tuning). I came on hoping to find some info on the radiator hose and was excited to see that someone else was working through the same problem, but it actually turned out to be a fight in progress instead . I love this site, because it allows me (and others like me) to take advantage of the knowledge and experience that other members choose to share. This way, I (we) can hopefully avoid costly mistakes or learn easier (or better) ways of doing things. I don't think this is the right forum for fighting. If it doesn't add to the betterment of the site or it's members...it should probably go unsaid. I like the easy going, Z-family, friendly attitude this site has, please don't mess it up. That's my 2-cents. Anyway, today (Friday) I modified a Taurus fan to work with the JTR radiator I received this week. I had to do some cutting and ended up making my own mounting brackets for the fan. Saturday, I'll visit Autozone for some hoes . I'll post some pictures when it's finished (if it turns out good).
