  1. Those benders work very well, I definitely recommend them because in the last fab shop I worked in we built ones to match those and they worked awesome. You gotta kinda throw your weight into it if you're bending DOM though.
  2. I've searched but nothing came up, Does anyone have pics of a 240Z in San Marino Blue? It's a new blue for the 350Z's I saw last week in the brochure and it's a beautiful color, kind of like daytona blue mixed with a charcoal gray, or at least that's how it looked in the brochure. Has anyone else seen this color in person or especially on an older Z?
  3. So I'm about to get into doing some head porting work at school and I'd really like to get my hands on a spare head for my 240Z and do the work on that so I have something I can use when I'm done, I'm looking to do a just a mild port and polish job, just something to focus on streetable power increase, I'll probably back-cut the valves while I'm at it because I had a friend with a VW 8v and he back-cut his valves and saw an 8% increase in flow from that alone. So pretty much my question is for anyone who has experience with doing this kind of work on these heads, any areas I should particularly focus on? Any spots that need special attention? If you can post pics up please because I have not seen these heads off the engine yet (I'm still looking for a decent project head)
  4. From what I understood is that platinum, double-platinum and the new iridium tipped plugs don't effect spark at all, they're just harder metals so over time there's less errosion of the plug tip meaning all those lazy people don't have to do as much maintenence on their cars, so based on what I've been tought, I'd say your friend was probably just driving on some bad plugs before and now he's getting the spark he should've been getting all along, but as far as the whole RPM thing goes, with a clutch, there should be no difference in RPM at a given speed in whatever gear it is he's using, a difference in power would only change how quickly the car reaches said RPM and speed. But at the same time it makes me think of how load effects speed and RPM, how at school on a dyno cars are capable of much higher wheel speeds than on the road due to the lack of wind resistance and engine load. Something else to think about I suppose.
  5. Aluminum has it's own form of rusting where it just oxidizes, still just as bad as rust is on steel, I was really interested in getting a set of these wheels, I think I'll wait for more feedback to this thread before I go through with that.
  6. It's been a while since I've looked around the SR market but from what i remember there are shops like http://www.g-dimension.com and http://www.signalauto.com that are known for building 400+hp SR's for drift cars, you can check them out or like what was said before Tomei builds nice (very pricey) engines if it fits your budget. There are alot of places that build KA-T Crate engines too that I've seen on 240SX forums. You could always just buy a stock SR, do the research and piece one together to your liking.
  7. It's been a while since we've seen an update on Hugo...
  8. There is a guy on here who haas done it, I remember reading some of his posts, but I don't remember his name, hopefully someone will chime in with his name.
  9. I'm a little confused... why is the 4.1 heavier than the 4.5? Where is the extra weight coming from? I know you found the info and may not know the answer but if anyone could answer that I'd appreciate the enlightenment.
  10. I've had experience like that but with me the euro and japanese car guys are cool and the domestic guys are the snobs, and of course we've all had run-ins with the fast n furious ricers who think imports are the only way to go, oh well, some people are just like that.
  11. I searched but can't seem to find any videos of a VH45 powered Z. I mainly want to hear the sound because I'm just a sucker for those lower displacement V8's. Any help would be appreciated.
  12. I'm with you, I love the sound of low displacement V8's. Man oh man if I could only get my hands on one of the new 4.0L V8's coming out in the new BMW M3's... 400hp, 8k rpm redline:burnout:
  13. How heavy is rediculous? from what I understand the 13B is a very light motor and the 4 rotor is essentially 2 13B's minus the Turbo accessories, I'm really curious to find out how much they weigh as compared to an iron block inline 6 and what-not.
  14. Very nice project, that dash is going to look very clean, and I share your opinion on the glove box situation.
  15. that was one of my thoughts about what it was for, thank you for clearing it up for me.
