  1. i am swapping a vg into a 1991 nissan stanza, the harness im using is from a 1994 maxima, this image is from the 94 maxima FSM i need to know what these two plugs actually do and where the wires in them go. the plugs between the stanza body harness and the maxima engine harness are different (stanza body harness is a 4 pin, maxima engine harness is a 6 with 2 pins jumped for some reason) i have the stanza engine harness which i plan to steal the 4 pin plug from and mate that to the maxima engine harness to connect the two together. i have managed to find some wiring diagrams (both appear to be engine harness/ECU pinout diagrams) that may or may not be of any use from the google machine. i am not sure what the plug might be labeled in them and i dont know if the plug has a traditional name that im missing, while im pretty familiar with wiring diagrams im having trouble finding the plug here (if its even accounted for) i know the plugs contain a power connection that i definitely need to complete in order for the ECU and the distributor, tps, etc. to get power. if i cant get any information while i wait ill probably just complete the power connection and see what else isnt working while i go through the car. of course my multimeter has to crap out on me a week before i get into this harness work so ill be buying a new one of those but in the mean time i thought i would seek out the help of some experts. here is a link to my build thread to maybe lend some insight into what im trying to accomplish: https://maxima.org/forums/3rd-generation-maxima-1989-1994/695655-turbo-vg-swapped-stanza.html
  2. nvm i realized i have a much easier and even cheaper way of dealing with this. i can actually make a mount that bolts to the rear part of the crossmember that reaches forward as far as i need the engine to be and use the stock engine mounting bracket, that way i can use the original oil filter location (for now) and get the motor located so i can square it up and get the other mounts made. i took more pics ill post everything when its finished.
  3. i already made a custom crossmember but the rear of it can only mount in the center of the body of the car, there is like a pocket back there for it to go, i showed how i made the crossmember in the thread, i didnt know the maxima crossmember was off to the side until i put the motor in a few days ago lol hence my mounting issue. i suppose i could modify the crossmember again but i would have to put a huge zag in it for it to end up where its supposed to be and i think it would be easier to just make different mounts at this point. heres the pics im about to add to the thread
  4. http://maxima.org/forums/3rd-generation-maxima-1989-1994/695655-turbo-vg-swapped-stanza.html if that link doesnt work then you can just google "turbo vg swapped stanza" and it should be the first link. its much easier to look through the thread than for me to explain but basically the original mount places the engine in the exact center of the engine bay so i need to make a new mount in order to move the engine toward the passenger side of the bay, unfortunately the oil filter location is immediately behind the rear engine mount which means the custom engine mount will occupy the same space as the oil filter location. the only real way for me to retain this oil filter location is if i make some kind of frame mount from rods or something to give as much room as possible and im not sure i will have enough room.
  5. WOW its been a while.... i dont think the links to the pictures i posted even work anymore lol but i still have that hideous plenum i made back then but it sits on a shelf now to remind me of my humble beginnings lol my work has improved slightly since then. this is my car as it sits today, although it isnt the car i had when i started this post i did buy it specifically to put the 33 into. while initially i just wanted to build my own car and make it cool but people started asking me to make them stuff and now i make other peoples cars cool too or at least thats what i try to do. i hope all the people who were extremely nice and helpful to me are doing well and i just wanted to give a little update to this 5 year old thread lol although i have already worked very hard on making this intake the best design i am capable of producing, if anyone has any other input on the design of my intakes i am always interested in where improvements can be made and welcome criticism.
  6. i am starting to wish i started this thread here instead of the maxima forum but ill link to my thread so whoever wants to help out can get a really good idea of where im at. as for my current and primary question, has anyone ever relocated an oil filter WITHOUT using the original filter location? i will likely have to completely block off the stock filter location on my block with a plate that will also be a mount and im wondering if the feed fittings that are elsewhere in the block will be able to handle this operation. i am not afraid to drill and tap them out to larger holes if need be, i just want the stuff to work. i was also considering running a cooler so if that is a good or bad idea to do in addition to this please explain why if you dont mind. thank you. here is the thread in its entirety: http://maxima.org/forums/3rd-generation-maxima-1989-1994/695655-turbo-vg-swapped-stanza.html
  7. this is my setup as it sits today. still needs a few things... as you can see im building a turbo setup. the stock manifold doesnt have enough volume and the gutted manifolds apparently flow worse than stock and i can see why. turbulence is something that kills flow which is why i have done everything in my power to keep flow as high as possible. every on of those joints in the pie cuts have been ground and sanded, the intake is the same diameter from the exit of the turbo all the way to the inside of the plenum (3 inch) my DP will be pie cut and the wastegate will probably be mounted upside down below the turbo and vent straight to the ground. yes, i have done quite a bit of research and development on this setup and hopefully my calculations show results.
  8. Hello gentleman, I have been over at z31peformance forums for a while and I figured I would share with you what I have been working on, as well as collect anyone's input or advice on how I could improve my design and possibly sell a few. some pictures of the process so far. started by making the bottom plate. holes welds here are the inlets in an early stage of bellmouthing.
  9. can you post some pictures of the headers? im doing the same setup in a z31.
