  1. I've had numerous car buddies over the years. Many of them moved on to less expensive hobbies or gave up cars altogether. I still have one friend that I call with questions and vice versa, but due to getting older, married and kids, we no longer have a whole lot of time to hang out and just wrench. His free time is spent being a dad to a 2 year old, and if have any time to myself I go mountain biking with my bike friends instead of working on the Z. The Z, for now, has taken a back seat to work, married life and bikes. If and when I do get the motivation to finish it I'll call up my friend and ask him if he wants some free beer and invite him over. For now, my friend's and my Zs are sitting under tarps in our respective backyards waiting for us to adjust our priorities.
  2. Hey Folks, I am looking for an ignition harness for an '83 turbo motor (swapped into '73 240Z) - I already have the main section of the harness, I'm just looking for the piece between the coil/ignitor that plugs into the main harness. If you have the whole thing and don't want to part with it separately, just shoot me your asking price for the whole thing...I really need to get my car up and running. I'm in San Diego, CA and have Paypal. Thanks, Rob
  3. Sorry man, It doesn't look like I'll be able to sell my shell - I was going to because I'm broke, but my girlfriend wants me to keep it. Good luck with your continuing search.
  4. You still looking for a shell?
  5. If I'm ever up there, I may take you up on the offer. I'm in San Diego - we have some good trails down here. Not much in the way of downhill or freeride. The Ted Williams/Meadowbrook trails are some pretty fun downhill with something for everyone (google it). If you really want to peg your stoke meter, out in Alpine, off of the I8, is the Anderson Truck Trail which includes the World Class trail - it's about 8 miles of singletrack downhill overlooking El Capitan resovoir. Pretty hot this time of year though - I was just out there on the WC trail about three weeks ago and it was about 105. Ended up taco-ing a rim coming off of a kicker.
  6. What are the two sexiest animals in the barn yard? Brown chicken brown cow.
  7. It does have that South Florida flava. I used to live in Key West and there was crap like this all over the place. Too bad there's no cliffs in Florida to drive it off of. Plenty of boat ramps and canals though.
  8. I live in the urban San Diego just a couple miles from Balboa Park area, so I ride all the canyon trails in the area. I've got Giant Trance X2 cross country mtn bike that I picked up a couple of years ago. I would love to build myself a fixed gear - the area surrounding downtown San Diego is hilly and altogether a nice ride. I wouldn't even consider riding to my work. Its too far (about 15 miles) for my out of shape self and I just quit smoking so I don't have the lung capacity let alone the stamina.
  9. I still like Zeppelin, even though they did pilfer their music and claim it as their own. I like their music. At least they paid back royalties to the original authors. The Keith Richards comment irritates the crap out of me though... Most musicians at some point or another steal other artist's stuff. I do it. If I hear a riff that I like, I'll grab my guitar learn it and see if I can make it "better" or mine.
  10. Thanks for the replies everyone. As you stated Tony, I didn't do the checks as I was assembling. Lesson learned there... I checked the components on the Stim and they are installed correctly. I just fubar'd the cap on the MS board. The cap in C14 on the MS board was reversed, as Loy mentioned above, so it's time to go to the store. All in all, this has been a good experience. Thanks again everyone for your help.
  11. I have version 3.0. The capacitor went fast too. Like, I plugged the stim in, and foosh! Gone...smoke.
  12. Hi folks, I powered on MS tonight for the first time and immediately burned a few components on the board. C14 went up in smoke right away, and then R15 started to smoke, so I unplugged the stim. I'm going to head over to Fry's (ironic name) tomorrow to pick up some replacements, but wanted to check with the experts before I install new components. Could my problem be due to installing the resistor (R15) and the capacitor (C14) incorrectly (backwards)? This just bums me out. I'm so close to getting the Z running. FWIW, this install is replacing the stock ECU and wiring for a stock L28et. Thanks in advance everyone. I couldn't have gotten as far as I have without this site. Rob
  13. From my experience, I get quicker responses here on HybridZ. I wanted as many ideas as possible, and I found that for myself, it's easier to search here. Larger knowledge base on this forum, and less flaming compared to Zcar. And thanks again. I do appreciate the help...from both forums.
  14. FP is at 36 psi btw guys, thanks for the help.
  15. I am getting spark from the coil, and I already checked distributor.
