I 2nd Jasper's call on JB Weld. Get the hardener-to-resin ratio as precise as possible, mix thoroughly and be certain the parts to be glued are clean. Chlorinated brake cleaner is good for flushing any remaining grease, oil, etc off the parts. Beware that chlorinated solvents are carcinogenic; use at your own risk. I use it outdoors, wear nitrile gloves and don't breath the fumes. Good luck.

Well, my 240Z was running just fine and I'd sort-of gotten used to climbing into the rear hatch to open the driver's door (outside latch is just a tease). Then, about 2 weeks ago, I discovered wet spots under it on the driveway: Prestone and gasoline. nutz. If I may go off topic... I want to say "Thank You!" to AlwaysBroke for having served in the defense of the U.S.A.!

He could blame the alignment settings but probably just incurred some mild dain bramage from breathing exhaust fumez.

I got this quote last week from Hagerty ( www.hagerty.com ). $170.00/yr gets Liability: $250/500K. Medical: $5K. Uninsured & Underinsured $250/500K. Property: $100K. Comp. & Collision $0.00 (zero) deductible. No limit on mileage, just the stipulation that it won't be a DD. I'm still looking for a few more quotes but Hagerty is very tempting being $90.00/yr lower than my current policy. Good luck with your search. Doug.

big-phil, You're posting some great stuff! It does, however, seem like they're abusing your time and talent by paying so little/view (Tom Sawyer). But when you really start to roll, whatever you do, don't let M.J.'s estate buy your video catalog (Sir Paul). And, get an aggressive tax guy (at least 50% Pit Bull) lined up to keep the revenuers out of your pants (pockets). Finally, if they hold payment until you reach $100.00 remind them of the accrued compound interest they also owe. Apologies for the bad vibes. It's late. I'm gutted. For a few posts this almost became a "Hybrid Walker" site for the crotchety (I'd hold out for a highly modified 'power chair'.). I agree with the general consensus that the rub, and a significant source of the higher insurance premiums we share, is the runt wetware holding the keys.

Along the lines of kiwi303's idea (post #13): The early Triumphs, TR2, 3, 3A, had a removable rectangular rear body panel (below the level of the trunk). No hinges. It came completely off. When removed it revealed an enclosed 'pocket' just large enough to slide the spare into.

For spot killing the random black widow (that I can't reach to safely stomp flat) I use a spray can of chlorinated brake cleaner. With the extension tube it's fairly easy to earn a spider sniper rating. It drops them fast and croaks the egg sacks. I gave up on raid-type sprays long ago: even a heavy soaking seemed to only annoy them. As a bonus, the brake cleaner doesn't leave a smelly oily residue. The brown recluse has my total respect; one nearly killed my dog. She suffered for weeks but survived, although the bite area never completely healed. I appreciate the brown widow info on this thread: it's a new one to me. Those are some weird-looking egg sacks. It's only a matter of time until they move East from So-Cal and set up shop in AZ. I'd better stock up on brake cleaner....

I'd second Brad-ManQ45's ideas. I have a 0.5 inch gasket between a 4bbl and a similar intake. I installed it to actually help insulate the carb from heat but it also provides more clearance for carb linkage. Too, be certain the electric / manual choke is adjusted and operating correctly. Make sure the throttle return spring(s) are providing enough tension and aren't getting hung up or going over-center. And, check the carpet and floormat in the driver's side footwell. Tho not likely related to changing intake & carb setup, a loose floormat that has slid (slud?) forward and jammed the loud pedal can happen. Been there, survived that. Good luck.
