  1. no. i jacked it up and ran it and the vibration didnt happen.. its just so weird that this started after i just put new shocks in the rear.. hrmmm i wonder if something is loose, imma climb under there and check all the bolts.
  2. ok ive figured out the real root of this belt problem. the water pump pulley is not in line with the crank pulley. it has to be shimmed out about a 1/4". am i able to shim it out with some washers? or do i need to machine a plate?
  3. its out about an 1/8" i might make a tightening bolt for the alt, because using a prybar is useless and the alt always comes loose again. like the caddies have if u have ever worked on em..
  4. i believe i go the wrong water pump pulley/crank combination. and i have no idea what to buy heres some pics. what is wrong with this setup? should i have 2 belts?
  5. ok so its not so much with speed.. its when i load the drivetrain up, like 60km/h i punch the gas the vibration comes.. any ideas guys?

  7. i was suprised to find the original owners manual in the glove box... are these common?
  8. so i just installed new shocks and wheelbearings in the rear end of my 71 240z, and when i get above like 60 km/h i get this very agressive vibration. the driveshaft is balanced already, this problem was not a problem until the rear suspension was worked on. R200 rear end with half shafts. any thoughts before i put it on the jackstands and spin the wheels?
  9. haha, i know. i dont know what tranny it is because i helped build it with my dad when i was in my teens. owned it for a year, lost it. ive just forgotten i gotta ask my dad
  10. this car was posted a while back when i used to own it. it was sold to my brother and he neglected it for the past 4 years. i have finally regained the car and its time to roll again. http://picasaweb.google.com/shortyz/Datsun specs: 71 240z 302 SBC engine Auto (700r4, i think?) excellent condition the only problems im having is getting it to idle properly, it feels like its missing a bit. i have ripped down the carb and found a buncha varnish and buildup, cleaned that out seems to run a bit better. carb is a 650 edelbrock. any other suggestions? (also did fuel filter)
