  1. I’ve been extremely busy with many things; however, there is still progress being made, albeit slowly. Backfilling since my last update: May 2016 Picked up a flare kit and deburr tool for the BMC line Picked up a plasma cutter New house with a two-car garage, DOUBLE THE SPACE! June 2016 Back out. Should be for the last time hopefully Here's where I let the scope of the project run a bit rampant. Decided I wanted to continue the "Learn All Things" ideology and spray the bay and cab. Picked up another jack to get under the vette without having to use ramps. It’s from HF, but it’s actually pretty nice Rebranded Bought a press too since I’ve been wanting one for a while and I’ll need it for dimple dies Then I had the idea that if I was going to through the trouble of spraying the interior, I may as well cage it now. So of course, instead of buying a cage, I had to stay true to the theme and build the cage myself. Over the course of the next several months, I researched a great deal, ordered parts, and built what I needed. Settled on a JD2 Model 32 July 2016 JD2 Notchmaster Bendtech Pro JD2 1.75” Die came in Learning the software August 2016 Put together a close model with some actual measurements so I could get the tube ordered Picked up tube Getting the base plate locations cleaned up September 2016 Base plates for the main hoop Picked up a needler and a mini sander to get into the tight areas Started bending the main hoop Hoop X-braces Rear down tubes Front down tubes October 2016 Driver’s side front down tube Down tube support Halo supports Deadblow got a little away from me Windshield removal. Tried a couple of tools but they didn’t work in the least, so I resorted to the brute force approach Finally decided to do what I should’ve done a long time ago and remove the body harness and steering column Cutting the floor to drop the cage
  2. In the process of moving so I had to wrap up everything enough to get it ready to move. So anyway I finished up the cart for the most part. Still going to add some additional pieces for the grinders, clamps and supplies I need a plasma, I wore this thing out cutting the diamond plate Ensured the engine was level side to side Prothane trans mount Being new to metal fabrication, I figured I'd mock up the cross member in poplar to get the measurements and angles close Cross member is made out of 1/4" flat with 3/16" gussets 30 yr old bolts that didn't allow for a box end or a ratchet equaled a sweet brown situation Shes loaded down and ready for the move so it may be a few weeks before the next update
  3. I'll have to go look at it again, but i believe i hijacked a 12v source and tied it into the appropriate wire off the key harness. I then had to run a wire from the ignition directly to the starter. As for the gauges, I believe i'm going to run all new speedhuts. Was looking at the racepak, but its a bit more than i'm willing to spend at the moment. But anyway, yeah send me a PM
  4. Thanks man! Swapped out the dipstick as the stock fbody one wasn't working with the manifolds, plus its pretty stealth Wrinkled up the thermostat housing and blacked the steam vent line Bolted the trans up to set the final engine mount location and mockup the trans crossmember Core support had to go. Up and over is for the birds Gave the trans tunnel the ol one-two shiatsu Tick brass shift cup isn't quite fitting, probably will need shaved a bit or pressed in ASCO rear sub frame swap kit Power steering AN fittings Also started my welding cart to get my welding skills good enough to install the rear sub frame kit Big thanks to a fellow ls1tech member for the new clutch bleeder fitting
  5. I just had my first child a week ago so i haven't gotten much done. However some of the grandmas came over a couple of days ago, and I did manage to get the clutch slave cylinder fittings swapped over and bolted onto the trans
  6. More parts came in Hey free shirt Finally weighed the sound deadening and "over panels", and I was pleased with the savings. Most likely another 5 lbs in the shop vac and a bit more unaccounted for No more flux core Replaced the rear seal Pulled the engine again to get the clutch installed, trans bolted up and final prep on the bay done Pilot bearing installed Clutch installed Heater core ports tapped
  7. Made some drop mounts out of aluminum tube, rubber well nuts with 10-24 threaded inserts, ss all thread, and ss hardware. Not that it matters, but i didn't have to modify the car at all with these. First cooling line mock up Swivel Tstat housing and Canton surge tank came in Final coolant mockup to determine gaps Swapping bottom coupler to a 45 Straight 1/2" NPT to 5/8" isn't going to clear. Will order a 90 degree Clears the hood...barely Plenty of room for a turbo Bam! Picked up a T56 locally out of a LS1 Fbody
  8. Z31 brake booster and the Z32 1" BMC The last few weeks have been all about cooling and power steering in an effort to get everything underhood completed. Main shipment of power steering parts More presents Ended up going another route and will not be using the coolant inline filler pictured Plug! Please subscribe on YouTube Making the PS pressure line with -6AN PTFE Removing the barbs on the water pump Derale Fan/shroud came in. Fit and finish are excellent. Pleasantly surprised to find that the fans are SPAL. 2000 cfm each Going to have to drop the rad down an inch or so to accommodate the thickness of both the rad and fan shroud Ebay fuel pressure gauge started leaking oil already, so it will be replaced with this Aeromotive one Majority of the last shipment came in today. Waiting on the Canton surge tank, swivel tstat housing and oddball fitting for the tank Not 530ZX, but also had my Doug Rippie revalved Bilsteins come in today for the C6Z
  9. Primed and painted the BMC Got the radiator (3 core Champion) in tonight and got it installed. Had to make a small notch to accommodate the drain
  10. Stock brake booster and Wilwood CMC came in. Primed and painted in wrinkle black Rigid Racing CMC adapter and Z32 1" BMC Finished up the sound deadening removal in the rear and found some Doublemint
  11. hey man, you can check out my 530ZX build on the Chevy Gen III / IV sub forum and I believe nismokid's turbo ls build is on this subforum, and there are also a couple of threads on ls1tech. As for mine, i did use the fbody oil pan with the fbody dipstick, pickup and windage tray and it clears perfectly with the crossmember and the dirty dingo engine mounts that nismokid helped get developed.
  12. Cut out the rust and welded in the new panels
  13. Removed the factory sound deadening with dry ice, a deadblow, and a chisel
