Picking up a U Joint replacement from NAPA this afternoon after work..... Thanks!

My basically stock '78 280Z has a bad axle shaft on the drivers side. The univeral joint near the wheel is bad with a lot of play and clanking during load changes. Before I start looking thru the local junk yards, what years are interchangeable with the '78??? Is there a difference between right and left sides??? Best options for finding a replacement via the internet??? Thanks, Dan

Looking for a 19 tooth (should be white) gear that goes on the end of the speedometer cable. Required for 3.9:1 ratio rear end found on most manual 80'~'82 280ZX's. Thanks, Dan

So after looking at 4 early 80's 280ZX's in the local junkyards I finally found a 3.9 rear end in a '82 ZX. Removal at the junkyard and installation in the '78 280Z back home was a breeze (gotta love a home garage with 2 post car lift!!!). The car is alive now with the new found torque to the wheels, but as expected the speedo is off accordingly. Finding the correct 19T speedo cable gear is proving more difficult than the rear end swap! After a little internet searching, I finally decided to call the local Nissan dealer. He tells me the part is on back order and cannot see a delivery schedule until I give the credit card # to make it an official order. Tomorrow he owes me a delivery response.... In the meantime, any good leads for finding a 19T speedo gear? The cars at the local junkyards didn't have transmissions so that is not an option in the short term..... Thanks, Dan

What's involved in removing ring/pinion gears from 280ZX at the junk yard? Aside from laying on your back in the gravel, are there any special tricks and/or tools required? I'm planning on getting a 3.9 set for my '78 R200 this weekend. Thanks, Dan

Anyone try to roll on the "Aluminum" Rustoleum paint? Any special tricks? My first attempt was about 3:1 paint to mineral spirts, but it was still to thick and the roller marks were bad and the color was streaky. 2:1 worked out better and 1:1 was way too thin and uncontrollable so I will probably proceed with the 2:1, but the make up of the Aluminum color is very prone to streak. Let's hear some advise, please.... Thanks, Dan
