  1. Just thought I post this, picked up the engine/ transmission mounts for my upcoming 350 swap. If you go to your local autoparts store, mine being Autozone, ask for engine mounts for a 1972 Chevrolet C10 5.7L Pickup part# 2282. If you are using a Borg Warner T5 transmmission ask for trans mount for a 1982 Chevrolet Caprice 5.0L part# 2337. Also if your looking for a nice replacement for the plastic slave cylinder for the T5 trans, Brakeware makes a nice aluminum replacement ask for a clutch slave cylinder for a 1992 Camaro Z28 5.7L part#10380 Hopes this will help anyone on their upcoming projects
  2. thats a good reference pic, how does the whole motor mount get assembled? is there amy tips to installing them on the motor like a sequence etc... What bolt(s) should be used to fasten the mount to the crossmember?
  3. Hi, i was wondering if anyone knows what motor mounts/trans mount are to be used with the jtr conversion. Im currently doing a Chevy 350 swap in my 78 280z. The motor is a 4 bolt main 350 out of a 69'. I'm using a T5 tranny. now in the jtr manual it stats to use motor mounts chevy # 3990332 65-72 chevy trucks and for the t5 tranny use chevy part # 475940 77-82 caprice.I am having a hard time finding these part numbers online and was wondering if anyone knows where i can find motor mounts/ trans mount that will work with the jtr kit????????????????? thanks, Keith
  4. also if im understnding this correctly, would the aluminum driveshaft from a 88-92 camaro work with my setup. in the manual it says the driveshaft already has a conversion u joint on the rear. meaning it would bolt up to the stealth conversion u joint on my diff. all i would have to do is shorten the driveshaft and it would bolt up to the t5 tranny???
  5. I have a few questions about drive shaft options. I have a 78 280z that im converting over to a sbc v8. the motor is out of a 74 corvette and i recently picked up a wc t5 tranny from a 89 iroc camaro. i have the jtr manual but it has conflicting info or im just misunderstood. in the manual it states the v8 t5 is 26 spline, however when i go on to driveshaft online stores i only see listings for 27spline t5 tranny. the t5 does not have the slip yoke. my question is what combo is best to use for my application, im using my stock r200 diff. in the manual i have to purchase the stealth conversion u joint dana 1310, that will bolt to my datsun diff. however what do i do about the trans yoke and what would be the right driveshaft from model and year gm car. any help would be appreciated bc im lost at the moment.
  6. yea, i like to get around 280hp out of my engine, so i really wana find a nice t5 tranny, and i will be using the stock r200 rear end and the suspension is already done poly bushings and tokico strut and lowering springs
  7. i'm currently in the process of a complete resto/mod of my 78 280z. I have finished all the underbody/ suspension work. my next decision is the engine. i have a 83 f54 engine complete, and a 71 lt-1 carb'd sbc v8 motor that runs. i believe was removed from a old corvette. i would really like to install the v8 motor due to simplicity of less electrical components versus ls1 engines etc. i plan on purchasing the jtr conversion book and start to order necessary parts however my ques is what manual tranny's from other gm cars will fit a old 70's lt1 sbc v8 motor, i particularly want a 5 speed tranny. i plan on keeping my r200 diff.
  8. ok but doo i need to replace the sleeve or do i just install the new polyurethane bushings without it??? b/c the bushings themselves will only fit inside the sindle hole if the original metal sleeve is pressed out
  9. bought a polyurethane bushing set for a 78 280z. the rear control arm bushings do not fit, in the pic shown the bushing will fit if i cut or press out the 1/8" sleeve shown inside the spindle hole, however do i need the sleeve or are the bushings designed not to use them because they are tougher??????? any help thanks, keith
  10. thanxs for the info, yes i have purchased bump stops for both front and rear struts, however do i need the bump steer spacers, says for 15" and larger rims while my stock ones are only 14"???
  11. Hi, i am new to this forum. i own a78 280z which i currenlty is undergoin a complete ground up restoration. Up to date it is completely stripped new pans and frame rails installed and the underbody stripped and spray with por-15 and new coat of undercoating. anyway im in process of installing all new suspsnsion and wanted to know a few things. After much research decided to buy tokico springs/struts. I purchased my lowering springs from motorsportauto.com part # 233952 and i purchased tokico hp's non adjustable from blackdragonauto.com. my question is im in the process of installing the and i know the lowering springs are considerably shorter then stock but is it normal for the lowering springs not to require a spring compressor to install them. they are the exact length of my stock springs when compressed in the strut housing. any opinions on my choice of components, mainly my z is gonna be just a nice cruizer. any advice much appreciated ,keith
