  1. Improved Racing's new billet crank scraper kits and windage trays will be available next week. These kits are a big improvement from our 1st generation scrapers. We have a lot more applications, and they are completely bolt-on for most common setups, including 4" strokers. If you are building a stroker, you no longer have to worry about modifying a factory windage tray to make it fit, bending the pickup tube, etc. You can just bolt one of these kits right up, make up to 2% more horsepower at the wheels, and reduce oil starvation. Features and Benefits Guaranteed to increase horsepower by up to 2% at the wheels Reduces oil starvation and aeration 100% bolt-on installation Windage tray is secured with locking, vibration-resistant self-clinching nuts Includes upgraded main cap stud lock nuts Lighter and stronger than the factory windage tray Lifetime Warranty Made in the USA Pre-order a scraper now and get a $50 discount! The discounts are already reflected on the product pages. This offer expires as soon as we get the new scrapers in, so don't wait! Because there are a lot of part numbers now and it can be a little confusing, we put together an application table with a drop down filter that allows you to filter the parts by vehicle / oil pan, main stud type, stroke, etc. Here's the application chart: http://www.improvedracing.com/tech/crank-scraper-application-list.php The application chart can also be found in the product listings. If you don't see your application, please contact us so we can figure out what you need. We will be adding more scrapers soon, starting with factory 3.622" stroke applications with aftermarket rods. If there are any other requests, let us know. All available scrapers are listed here: http://www.improvedracing.com/oiling-system/crank-scrapers-windage-trays-c-3_50.html Attached are a couple renderings of some of the new scrapers and windage trays, as well as a couple of quick shots of a partially completed scraper.
  2. A pinched or improperly seated oil pickup tube O-ring can allow the oil pump to suck up air, resulting in oil pressure drops and oil starvation. This is common a occurrence in the GM LS engine family, as the pickup tube is secured on only one side by a single screw. Improved Racing now has a brace available that uses the extra screw hole on the oil pump to ensure an equal clamping force is exerted on both sides of the pickup tube flange. Priced at only $24.00, the billet aluminum brace provides low-cost assurance that your oil pickup tube will stay in place and leak-free lap after lap. We consider this an essential little part for improving the reliability of any LS engine build. 3. The reason to run the 8 quart Camaro/G8 pan is because the extra capacity helps prevent oil starvation. If you won't track or race the car at all, this is not a concern.
  4. Our low-profile oil cooler adapter for GM LS-series engines is now available with a built-in thermostat. The angled front cutout and a maximum thickness of just 1.30" makes this unit slim enough to clear most headers. Street cars with oil coolers help keep the oil from getting too hot, but are also prone to allowing oil temperatures to drop low, especially in colder weather or during highway driving. The unit's built-in thermostat helps protect the engine by speeding up warm-up time and maintaining oil temperatures at optimal levels. The thermostat starts to open at 180F and is fully open by 200F. The adapter features a 1/8" NPT port for an oil sensor or turbo oil supply. It's machined from a single piece of 6061-T6 aluminum and is black anodized. Includes anodized adapter fittings for -10AN or -8AN lines (your choice). Features and Benefits - Built-in thermostat helps protect the engine and reduce oil starvation by preventing oil temperatures from dropping below optimal levels - Low-profile design maximizes header clearance - Re-buildable - just send it back to us and we will replace the thermal actuator, spring and seals - 1/8" NPT port for a sensor or turbo oil feed line - Retains stock oil filter location - Oil exiting the adapter is filtered oil - 6061-T6 billet aluminum construction and black anodized finish - Viton seals throughout - Lifetime Warranty - Made in the USA Now available at: http://www.improvedracing.com/adapters-the...gine-p-209.html Note: We will be closed from December 21 - January 1, so be sure to order by Thursday, December 20 if you want one this year. We deburred these units by running a small chamfer along the edges, so they have a very polished look. You can see the chamfers in the image below.
  5. We've created a page with dimensions and part numbers for the most common GM LS-series oil pans as a resource for anyone doing a swap. We will continue to update the page with the latest part numbers and additional pans. Link: http://www.improvedracing.com/LS-oil-pan-dimensions.php If anyone thinks there's something we should add, let me know!
