  1. Purchased a '72 240z, manual swap in progress. Thanks for all of the PM's.
  2. Anyone have a pedal box for a '72 240z? I'm doing a manual swap, and need one. I'm located in 90025. Thanks
  3. Howdy, I'm in a similar position (looking for a Z). Re: rust free... even in California, you're going to get rust unless someone before you has already cut and welded / patched it. As your goal is slightly different than mine I don't mind swapping information (we're not looking for the same kind of car so we're not "competing" as it were). There's a website called "searchtempest" that will search all of the craigslist's in a specified area. My zip code is 90405 so I use that and do a radius search of 300 miles, then view the results in "direct results" mode (you may prefer combined view). That's been the most helpful. Then of course there's ebay, and the other classic Z websites: DatsunClassifieds and ZCar Both .com. Best of luck with your search mate! -Ryan
  4. haha yeah I know this is HybridZ and thus a marketplace for cars non-stock powertrains, I was just wondering if someone here had a vehicle in a pre-swapped configuration that maybe bit off more than they could chew, that's all. Cheers and thanks for the suggestion, Ryan
  5. I know what you're thinking - first post, relatively newly reg'd member, etc, I'm probably just some flipper. Tough to refute that on the internets, but I have a pretty lengthy history at some other enthusiast boards (brickboard, turbobricks, legacygt.com, rx8club, NASIOC to name a few) and this is my first foray into the world of the S30. I've been infatuated with these cars since I was a kid but for my entire life I've lived in New England where the regularly-driven Series I cars have long since rusted away and the ones without rust have been cut, welded, bondo'd, and fiberglassed to the point where not much original metal remains. Well, the winds of fortune have changed and I'm now on the best coast. I no longer need an AWD car with studded snows just to get out of my driveway 8 months a year and want (read: lust after) an S30 to drive daily. So again, you might think, "why post a WTB advert when you can't swing a dead cat on craigslist in LA without hitting a dozen S30's?" Simple: Because most of these cars are no-talent "bubba" hack jobs. And the ones that aren't completely chopped to bits are being sold by dreamers with no grasp of reality ($16k for a 100k mile car that's been sitting for 15 years? no thanks). OK so onto the meat, here's what I want: 1970 - 1974.5 S30. Yeah, maybe a '75 280z but nothing past 1975. Period. Clean title. Good floors, doglegs, frame rails, rocker panels, battery trays. Don't mind rust in the rear deck / hatch area. Mechanically sound (i.e. I can drive it home without killing myself or others) Manual transmission (4spd or 5spd, no preference), NO AUTOMATICS. Doesn't need to be numbers matching, but no FI conversions, turbos, V8's etc. (yeah I know this is hybridz). Looking for white, black, green, red, orange, silver or dark grey from the factory. White is my first choice. I already have a stack of parts for this car (long story - bought an S30 in October and found out the VIN tags didn't match the firewall stamp / etch... however the firewall etch matched the VIN of a stolen car...) to include sways, tokico's, Rota RBs, 4 pot front calipers and a rear disc conversion, etc so I'm not looking for a "completed" project. Just something that runs, drives, steers and stops. My budget is $10k for something I can bolt my parts onto tomorrow and drive across the country the next day, down to $4k for a good runner but ugly looker that I'll need to prep and paint, redo the carbs, replace the radiator, belts, hoses and some gaskets / exhaust parts. No major engine or tranny work though. HOA doesn't like me pulling engines in my driveway. Let me know what you have. I'm located in West Los Angeles. -Ryan
