  1. So I am finally a 2+2 owner! In a few weeks I plan on purchasing a LQ9 to rebuild. I initially was going to go with $500 LM4 but decided I want more displacement. I got my eyes set on a LQ9 but with the iron blocks being around 70lbs heavier I would like to know how would this affect it. Anyone got input especially those who bothered to pull out the AC to save weight? Would keeping the AC and fitting a LQ9 mess up the handling and weight displacement? I do intend on installing power steering as well so I want to know if it'll feel odd especially with the larger wheelbase of the 2+2. Also it will not be a stock LQ9 I will explore maybe even aftermarket intake manifolds and if I do not clear the hood then things shall be cut!
  2. What Z do you have matt? Also it is bad a** looking I plan on doing something similar with my own touches.
  3. I'm on KingsBridge Terrace right on the SW side of the reservoir. I can really use a lot of guidance if you have the time on cell or in person EvilC.
  4. Yes both are 2+2 by preference. <3 So the 76 and 78 models have different window regulators? I was assuming such a small feature would have compatible parts.
  5. Thanks for the replies guy. And there both in really good shape. I have my eyes on a 1978 but the guy is too attached to it giving it a higher value. I would like the 78 due to me planing to use it as a daily driver on nice warm days after I do an engine swap. That is why I want the bigger tank but I'm not sure if it'll make such a big difference. NewZed of course after I blow a tire I won't go doing anything crazy with a skinny bicycle tire on my precious baby. It is to get me home safe without breaking the bank.
  6. So I have two purchase opportunities. I know the difference is the larger fuel tank in the later, as well as space saver spare. I do plan on doing a V8 swap eventually so would that smaller fuel tank affect me enough to make an unwise decision? Any thoughts please do share.
  7. Is there any device (aftermarket push to start or etc.) that lets the Z retain its steering lock feature? The locking pin is on the ignition switch itself and is 100 [percent mechanical. An actuator and relay could make it electronically controlled but that requires a lot of fabrication.
  8. Is that a after market rear skirt? And what body kits are for sale fot 2+2 vehicles?
  9. Thanks seattlejester and Pharaohabq. I do plan on seeing it with a few friends and will inspect all the known places for rust. The car itself has new brakes and never saw a winter (for the past owner) as its been garage during the season the past 20 years. I want the 2+2 because I like how the extra 11inches and different roof shape give it a American car look. I orginally wanted a muscle car so if I drop a V8 I will have no regrets. Thanks for the input I just got to make sure there is not much rust and the body is solid!
  10. Sup 2+2 owners! Not to thread jack I just need help on what I should be paying for a 1978 280Z 2+2. Check out my thread below for pictures and details: http://forums.hybridz.org/topic/116886-1978-280z-22-price-suggestions/ Please help out as I want to join the 2+2 club!
  11. I actually do want a 2+2 to stand out of the crowd. For insurance I was considering USAA military auto insurance so I will look into what they cover in detail. I really do like that 280Z listed as it convinced me a 2+2 is what I want and it happened to be green which is my favorite color. The seller is a 70+ year old vet so he would also for it to stay in hands that he can relate to. I'm hoping when we met up this weekend he lowers it even more when we get to talk in person as we have been communicating through his nephew with no military background. I do want to remove those bumpers. Do you really think I will find another 2+2 in great condition? It was pampered for the last 20 years.
  12. Thanks a lot Pharaohabq! I really needed that picture as I was not familiar with the terms or areas for them. Well I really have to negotiate with him as I did not get approved for a loan!
  13. So the following three locations are the common spots? Right in front of the rear tires on the rocker panel On the floor board Front fender wells into the cross member.
  14. Actually they are asking for 9K which I felt was way too much. What do you think it is worth? Can you hint the common spots for rust? Not only am I new to the Z, I'm new to cars completly. Thanks for the reply. Here is more info: Bosch Fuel Injection 2.8L 4 Speed Manual transmission Signed rear view mirror by Mr. K (No value to me to be honest) "Disc Brakes are all rebuilt, completely rebuilt front-end, new bushings, new shocks, new tie rods, new brakes, etc."
  15. Just a bit over 100K miles. I plan on purchasing it and I would like to know what should I be paying for this 280z in this condition?
