  1. Im in WA as well. I do not beleive its against any type of law here in this state atleast. I checked my RCW book and found nothing. Think of it as a street legal sand rail with a modified fuel tank sitting behind the drivers seat. As long as if it has brake lights, turn signals and seat belts, you should be good to go. But as Oddjob said, its not a good idea for a daily driver for many reasons. I am looking at doing the same thing for mine right now. Maybe we can help eachother out with trial and error. I am trying to replace my fuel tank with a cell without cutting anything. Its been done and I have pictures. The cell will have to sit lower in the back and be exposed like the stock tank. But atleast it will be a nice aluminium look.
  2. Im still having trouble with my sending unit. I may just need a new one though, but at $225 + shipping for a 77' sending unit, I might as well buy a fuel cell that comes with a new sending unit that will work with my new $130 autometer guage. Let me know if anyone found any tricks to use another sending unit from a different car.
  3. I am all confused now on the LSD, VLSD, CLSD conversions. I have a 77' 280z with an R200 rear end, assuming it is a longnose becasue it was a manual car to start. I was planning on using a 87' 300zx turbo diff and cv joints and all the necessary parts to convert it to an LSD. My question is; is there a replacement gear setup from Cusco or Kaap (or anyone) that I can buy and drop it in my original R200 diff that is in the car now, so I do not have to competely swap rear ends to have an LSD? If anyone reading this is near Spokane, WA please send me a message with any information and maybe we can meet up to figure this out. Thanks.
  4. I have a 77' 280z with a SBC vette engine with a holley four barrel carb. When I step on the gas after I am sitting at a stop light, it acts like it is going to die until I let off the gas and wait a sec. Everyone tells me to have it tuned, but it has done this ever sence I got it back from the shop. They said everytime they drive it, its fine. They are full of Sh**. I dont know if you might have a better insight on whats wrong, or a better way to diagnose the situation. Thanks. I am building a custom air intake system becasue I think it might be the lack of cool air and too much fuel.

    Another 280z

This is my 280 that I was not able to work on myself becasue I was overseas. I had a local shop do the work, but I can say the ideas and the design came from me.
  6. I am in the process of designing an air inake system for my Z8. Go to www.specterperfomance.com and take a look at what they have to offer. Everyting you will need to get cold air to your engine. I will post pics when I finish mine. Not to mention, this sytem makes your engine compartment look mean. I dont recomend buying from them directly, I found much cheaper prices elsewhere.
  7. Okay...Here is a link to my photobucket website where I posted some pics of my Z to help get you a better idea of you wqant to do to yours. If you have any questions on anything, please let me know. The car is not yet done, but I will keep updating pics as I get them. http://photobucket.com/Tanman280z
  8. Okay...I cant figure out how to post pictures. But I just got the wheels mounted with ruber and wheels put on the car. I went with 9.5s on the rear and 9s on the front. I have flares, nit sure exectly what kind. This stagger is perfect. However on the front. When I turn the wheels completly, I can barely fit a pencil in betweeen the air damn and the tire. This will make it scary when turning over bumps. Straight on, I have plenty of clearance. I will get the tires posted when I get the pics on. Let me know if there is anything else you need to know.
  9. I have flares that I bought like 3 years ago. I think they are the ZG flaresbut I filled in the rivet holes because I fiberglassed over them when I put them on the car. Or I should say I had the shop do that. I couldnt do the work cause I was overseas. The flares stick out like 2.25 inches. I cant remember exactly. And the front air damn is one I bought off TheZstore.com. I cant get pics to post for some reason. I will put them up when I figure it out.
  10. Thanks for the replies. I mounted the wheels on the car as it is totally suspended and it does not rub while in the air. I figured once the weight of the car is on them. It will be okay. The shop was concerened when looking at it about the clearance. The wheels are amazing by the way. I will get rubber mounted in the morning and fit them on the car again to check the turning. I will let you know. I told the shop what everyone has said on here, and they trust you sence you have all done it and been happy. Thanks again. I will figure out how to post pics so you all can see.
  11. There will be a difference in the size of the lip on the wheels. There will be a lesser lip with the higher + offset. Without flares, that would be an excellent combination.
  12. First off, I just want to say thanks and show my appreciation to those who have posted on this thread with answers. It has really helped. Thanks again. Okay, I cant find anything on the wiper "Amp assy INT. wiper". I just need to know what wire does what so I can finish installing the painless wiring harness. If anyone know or can direct me in a better path. Please let me know. Thank you in advance.
  13. Is it possible that you can send me this pic of the wiper wiring? I would greatley appreciate it. Thanks.
  14. I think I need the same thing. Did you figure out what wire does what? If its not too much trouble, can you let me know what the wires go to. I also have a 77 280z that is getting a painless harness put in (18 circuit). Thanks in advance for the help.
  15. I bought a painless harness for my 77 280z and gave it to a custom shop to do it because they said they could. Now it is taking them forever because of all the wiring hookups to the column. (blinkers, ignition, lights, etc.) Is it possible for them to make it work with the stock ignition or do I need to get one from a GM car cause I have a small block 350 in it? Any info will help. Thank you in advance.
