I had a 1976 Datsun 280Z in college. Someone rear-ended it soon after I graduated and totaled it. But I had it fixed - as best it could be. Way too many good (really good) memories to just let it go; repair cost more than insurance paid. It was really never the same. Soon after, early in my career and before I had kids, I moved to Ohio for 5 years and took it with me. Salt pretty much destroyed it. I started having kids and ultimately had to let it go. Fast forward many years - a friend of mine swapped an LS1 into a Fiero in 2014. That inspired me to try the same. I always missed my Z. So I purchased a 1977 280Z in 2014, and am in the process of modifying and upgrading it. In 2016 I purchased an LS2 w/T56 transmission from a 2006 GTO w/53K miles. A little ahead of schedule, but the seller was within 15 minutes of my home and no way I could pass it up. So I'm researching options and taking advantage of what others have done.
