  1. Two weeks ago I tried to start my car and got nothing. -the battery shorted (went from 13ish volts to 0)as soon as I turned the key to start. I've checked the battery, the starter, and the posotive and negative cables on the battery. -Now the battery shorts (same thing), as soon as I turn the key to ACC. Any thoughts?
  2. I have a 1979 280zx, mostly stock with a turbo clutch and flywheel. I slide all day when it rains, but not quite enough power to keep a slide in the dry especially with an open diff
  3. Hey guys, I was wondering, does the 280zx electronic distributor communicate in any way with the factory F.I.? I ask because I was planning on ditching the F.I. for a set of triple webers and I didn't want to have to get an aftermarket ignition to. Thanks
  4. Ok guys, The parents want to throw down with me on a graduation present. I have a '79 280zx, but they want me to get something more reliable for college (in addition to the Z). I found a great deal on a 1999 camaro ss, with the ls1 and t56. It however had the EGR and catalytic converters removed. . . Will this car still pass emissions testing? I wouldn't want to buy a car and not be able to drive it Thanks
  5. thanks for the input ya'll, im going to try to bolt it all up then get the tranny and driveshaft back on, and see if it works. I also had to take the exhaust off and broke two of the three studs on the manifold . yay exhaust leak
  6. the original is 225mm and the one they sent me is 240mm. Will the 240mm clutch and pressure plate work with the original transmission?
  7. I've worked on this the last two days and hit a wall. Last week i bought an Exedy Clutch Kit (a "OE replacement") and a Fidanza Lightened Flywheel. I pulled my driveshaft, exhaust and tranny, then took the old slipping clutch, pressure plate and flywheel off. When comparing the clutches and pressure plates, i noticed they weren't the same size. The Exedy pressure plate was about a half inch thicker than the stock one, and the clutch and friction surface on the flywheel were bigger. Did they sent me the wrong one? This is the info where i bought it Fits the following cars: Nissan 240 Z 70-73 2.4L Nissan 260 Z 70-74 2.6L Nissan 280Z/ZX 75-83 2.8L Inc. T Exedy Part# 06030 + Fidanza Part# 143281 NIS1 and here is the link : http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/EXEDY-Clutch-FIDANZA-Flywheel-240Z-260Z-280Z-280ZX_W0QQitemZ310094704749QQcmdZViewItemQQptZMotors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories?hash=item483315b06d#ht_2749wt_1167 thanks guys
  8. I was sitting at my computer today doing some research about limited slip's and came across a parts site. While there, i saw a differential section, so i though, well might as well see that they don't make one for my car . Yet, they did! Phantom Slip http://www.importperformanceparts.net/imports/phantomgrip-nissan.html Has anyone ever heard of them before? Anyone have one? Oh and if this is in the wrong place tell me please.
  9. What up, S130's! So i have a 1979 280zx, that is my daily driver. When i bought it, it barely ran, but i replaced the fuel injectors, the fuel filter and cleaned the fuel sender unit in the gas tank. I started her and now shes a beast. The car sat for about 5 years in a driveway until the PO bought it and did nothing with it except let it sit again for about 4 months. The car is the base model with roll-up windows, ONE power mirror, an aftermarket tape deck, and (electronic) external oil pump, and 75,000 ORIGINAL miles. The car is brown (horribly faded with barley any clear), a little bubbling around the windshield, but not other rust. It has a 5 speed manual trans and is a reliable car. What is this worth, b/c i wanted to buy either a first gen z or a 280zx turbo. Thanks, and sorry for the long read
  10. thanks a lot zeeboost. i cant wait to get my '79 back on the road
  11. Hey guys, im in the Austin area. I have two 280zx's. One 1981 280zx 2+2 and a "mint condition" 1979 280zx coupe, that needs new injectors. Anyone got an extra set lying around for cheap?
  12. thanks for all the help guys. yea it turned out while i was working on my car one of my friends took the dist cap off and put the wires on wrong.
  13. the smoke was white. i tried to start the car this morning and it ran for about a second and died. The car has run for about a year since i bought it. The previous owner had it sitting, but started it about once a week to keep it running. Im going to try to start it again tomorrow.
  14. i changed the oil, oil filter and spark plugs. it wont start, but cranks (while cranking, produces smoke)
  15. thanks for the help guys. . . but i have one more question. . . what would i do with the wiring if i did go to tripple carbs? how would that work?
