  1. G-Tech Life got in the way and had to drop my pursuit of the headers last year and I do appreciate your response. I did have another question if you wouldn't mind. My 83 is rack and Pinion as you know and I was wondering if the model number of the headers you used correlates to the ones I am interested in which are the 1 5/8" D-ports ZX-401C? Thanks again and hope you are doing well... Dan Th Headers for Datsun V8 ZX with Rack and Pinion Steering ZX-401C
  2. I've heard this JTR header and and not. Anyone have any personal experience?? Thanks
  3. Has anyone out there used Motor Sport Auto floor pans for the 79-83 ZX?
  4. G-Tech: Thanks for the reply and I very much appreciate your insight. Guess I'll dive in a see where it goes.. Again thanks. Dan
  5. I believe it's time to replace the R200 bearings and seals/etc. on my 1983 280ZX I've owned for 37 years. I'm not a differential guy per se and I'm having difficulty finding the complete parts list I may need. Zcardrepot has a kit with bearings and seals and in sniffing around other sites I see a crush sleeve and differential bearing carrier shims. This begs the question as to whether or not this completes the list of rebuild parts for an otherwise serviceable R200. (I did snag a Quaife QDF7L LSD to complete the rebuild). Any help or suggestions would be very helpful so the car doesn't end up "down" in my garage waiting for parts.. Thought about calling courtesy Nissan and talking to a mechanic but I would like to have more info so I have might have some clue-bag about what I need and don't.. As an aside, I've purchased several parts from Zcardepot and they have been very good to deal with. Hope the photo doesn't piss you purists off! Again Thanks Dan
  6. jhm: I'll definitely let you know. I talked to one of their tech guys and they are using a GM caliper which I'm also OK with. I found 82-83rear ZX calipers recently at NAPA. (They are more than likely re-manufactured by Cardone which isn't necessarily a bad thing). G-Tech: The ship sailed on the stock engine/transmission around 20 years ago. It's a Chevrolet Performance ZZ430 clone with a 700R transmission. I bought a 3.54 R200 differential and just picked up a Quaife LSD so this is going to be an expensive year for the car. Thanks for the info Guys. Dan
  7. G-TEC: Thanks for the response. It is a bit hard to find on their site. The part# 650-385. I have dealt with both companies and they have been fair to me so far. I thought this caliper kit was interesting even though it is overpriced. Again, thanks for the response and I would be interested in your "take". I'm interested in all of the above as far as parts are concerned. I've had this car for 36 years and so far it is an all original paint and interior car. Dan
  8. Like a lot of you out there, I'm sure, I need all-around brake components on my 1983 ZX. As others have noted, the offerings are becoming very sparse. I recently ran across The Z Car Depot Front Brake Caliper Kit. Can anyone offer their perspective on this kit? Any comments would be most appreciated. As an aside, it's good to see the prices/appreciation for these cars continue to elevate and grow. Thanks Dan
  9. I'm interested in a Quaife LSD for my 83 non turbo with a 3.90 open differential. I purchased a 3.54 turbo differential several years ago and my plan is to install the Quaife in the 3.54. One of the vendors of Quaife (QDF7L) has a statement to the effect that their LSD is suitable for non turbo cars. My question is there a difference between a long nose R200 turbo and non turbo?? Thanks for your time. Dan
  10. NewZed: Thanks for the response. The headlights are still working, and they are on the same fuseable link "block" as the other terminal which has the fuesable link (IGN) which failed. I thought it was a black one because it was black toast, (was confused about the "br" legend on the cover). Now it would appear to the "untrained: eye that it was a brown fuseable link. The puzzle is whether it died due to age, or there is another problem. At any rate, I'm stil sniffing around and guess I need to talk to a Nissan tech. Again appreciate the response. Dan
  11. I'm danc430 (formerly danc) with an 83 280ZX with a GM Performance Parts ZZ430 clone. It's been running in the current configuration since 2001 without electrical issues. The ignition fuesable link fried yesterday, and or course it wasn't in the driveway. Good news I had a good tow truck driver and my credit card. Attached are two photos of the scene of the crime, and one of the car. My first question is do any of you folks know where I can get another factory fuseable link? Secondarily any thoughts on what might have caused it? Whenever a problem arises my first question is what has changed? The answer is nothing. It's the factory fuesable link (had the Z since 6k miles and 1985). Any help or thoughts would be most appreciated. Dan
