  1. I tested the coil by quickly grounding out the negative side and the coil wire did spark accross the valve cover, but when i crank it there is no spark. Is that a bad igniter?
  2. Im looking for some reasons why have no spark in my 72 240z.. I recently picked up the car as a project and started when I first got it. It took forever to start when cold and would idle like at 300rpm or less until about 10 minutes after when it was finally warm. Once it was warmed up it would idle great and rev up pretty smoothly, but once it was going and under load it hesitated like crazy. The previous said it needed a coil and should run fine. He had installed the Pertronix electronic igniter but was running the stock coil and resister. I decided to buy some new NGK plugs and wires as well as a new Pertronix 3.0ohm coil so I can delete the resister..since installing the coil I cannot get a spark out of the coil. I looked online at many wiring diagrams and still nothing. I even installed the old coil which kind of worked before back just to check and even that one did not spark when cranking. I get 12v at both end of the coil once the ignition is on, I connected both the black/white wire and the green wire from the igniter together, connected the other blk/wht wire to the + and also the red from the dizzy, connected the black wire from the dizzy to the - on the coil. Could this be a bad new coil or did i burn out the igniter,? Where / what else can i check? The fusable link looks good and while the ignition was on i laid the coil wire over the valve cover to check for spark, and nothing even when i grounded the neg. Side of the coil manually...

  4. Hi i recently picked up a 72 Z with a banged up fender. So I am looking for a passenger side fender with minimal rust or damage, any color is fine. Located in San Jose THANKS
