Any 87mm or 88mm pistons with 30mm pin height?

21 April 2017 - 12:03 AM

Doing some research and cannot find this; maybe it doesn't exist. Any stock pistons (flat-top or minimal dish) that will fit an L6 with roughly 30mm pin height in 86-88mm bore dia.?

Choice of plates - which would you use?

21 September 2016 - 11:04 AM

So I found myself a vintage plate issued in the year my car was built. Some fun numbers on it, too. But I also have historic vehicle plates already issued.

Which would you use? (The car's on historics now, which preclude any periodic emissions testing and listed-mileage insurance. Actual numbers fogged to protect the innocent.)

Wanted - R180 3.9:1 LSD or an LSD unit; XDi DIS ignition

08 September 2016 - 10:31 PM

Looking for an R180 with limited slip, 3.9:1 ring & pinion which doesn't need immediate admission to the Intensive Care Unit. Alternatively, could do with a fresh LSD unit to install in my existing 3.9:1 R180.

Also, unlikely to find one, but looking for an Electromotive XDi (or XDi2) distributor-less ignition system for six-cylinder (box, three-coil unit, trigger wheel).

I'm in Phoenix.

Wanted: Weber 45DCOE set of three; or Mikuni 44PHH set of three

04 February 2016 - 08:08 PM

Looking for a good set - in perfect shape, needing nothing or good rebuildable - of 45 DCOEs for an L28 build. I actually have a manifold & linkage already, so I don't need that. Alternatively, I'd also consider a set of Mikuni 44 PHH sidedrafts, but those are quite rare these days.

New member, owner of multiple Zs, just re-entered the hobby

08 December 2015 - 09:32 AM

New member here, in Scottsdale, AZ. I've owned four 240Zs in the past and just purchased a fifth, to restore (or restify) with my two young sons, teaching them about tools, mechanics and investing time in a project with a collective goal.

I wish I never sold my last Z in 2003; I had a sudden and comprehensive case of idiocy. It was very well done (if I do day so myself); a '72 housing an NOS L28 / N42 combo with SUs, a close-ratio 5-speed, coil-overs with Konis, BWA period alloys and a set of Revolution wheels for the track, a big R200 with a proper Nissan Comp LSD and 3.54 r&p. Body was throughly done and repainted in a Porsche silver. Red interior, too. I'm a dumbass for selling that car. Innumerable hours and parts poured into it.

Anyway, just bought an interesting '73 240, a genuine Euro-market car imported privately to the U.S. from Switzerland in 1983 by the previous-to-me owner. Don't know how many of these exist in the U.S. and suspect very few survive in the U.K. or mainland Europe. (It's LHD). I hope to chronicle the restification for one of the outlets I write for, or perhaps a new one. (I'm a journalist and former PR/Marketing guy.)

The one that got away is below (silver) and the one that just got in is below-below (in orange, with two excited boys).
