  6. Hey guys, I'm looking for another transmission for my 280z. I like the closer ratio in the 81-83 non turbo ZX transmission so that's what I'm hoping for, but I'd also like a 77-79 280z transmission if anyone has one they want to get rid of. I'm looking for one I can swap in and go, mine needs to be rebuilt, but Id rather take my time with that one to use as a learning tool and rebuild it myself. The Z is my only car, my daily driver. As you could have guessed, I can't drive it until I get a transmission so I'm stuck borrowing my parents car who lives out of town so... Id like to find something as quick as possible. Any leads or pointers help too. Thanks!
  7. Strotter.... LOL I love the translations. On another hand, Dark Raven, don't get discouraged. Zcar.com also has a lot of information and restoration stuff.
  8. Im not sure which first page you are talking about, the first page is there, ummm I've got 2 copies of the whole magazine at home, so I'll post what I can, but I dont understand what you are asking for the first one. and I'll find the 370z vs 2010 Stang and post it tomorrow that ones in color! Hehe
  9. I bought the Rods from ben280zx and justin found me a crank I bought from the guy he got all those molds from. thanks for all the replies to this thread, sorry I havent checked up on it lately. As far as the head goes, I think I found one locally that I will be rebuilding.
  10. Hey after looking at it, this one if from Motor Trend, not hot rod, and when I grabbed it from all my other articles I accidentally left the last page at home, but here is this one, MIGHT be the same one you were referring to. Motor Trend also compared the new 370z to the 2010 mustang... the Z is better on almost all levels again. Hehehe I can scan that article to if anyone wants to see. Click images to make them larger
  11. I've got a passenger side one, I'm fixing a rust spot on it right now (welding in a patch)... the original color was light blue but it will be sanded down to metal, treated to prevent rust, and primered.
  12. I have the stock front springs from a 76 280z, If you can't find all 4 at once let me know. And a front bumper bar in good condition (the side rubber pieces were torn so you would need new ones and that's why I'm saying just the bar.) from a 280... if that's what you are looking for.
  13. I have 2 copies of this article (since it was a few pages, front and back) to frame as Datsun art. I could always scan it if you want to read it!
  14. Hey guys, so the main thing, I'm looking for a LD28 Diesel Crank. If you have one you are willing to part with or know somewhere I should look, please let me know. Also looking for: 240z Rods (9mm), 240sx Pistons (89.5 mm), P90 head That's all I'm sure about so far... Just let me know price and condition! Pics are always good and I can pick up anywhere in CA (I'm in Santa Barbara) I'm building it from the ground up, this is my first motor build so if you have any pointers, suggestions, or parts to recommend/stay away from, all the input is greatly appreciated!
  15. I'm 19 in a little less then 2 weeks, and I love telling the story about how I got sucked into the Z world. Since I was little I've loved cars. Don't ask where it comes from... My dad kind of likes cars, but not working on them so I'm not sure. I was never really around a car person, I just loved them. Always played with hot wheels, micro machines, built car models, I love problem solving and puzzles. I'm studying Mechanical Engineering and Aviation Mechanics, so something clicked in me to be a gear head. Well about 2 years ago, I was walking around a car show, and this guy... Mark Belrose, was standing next to his BRE road race prepped 240z. Id never seen a car like this before (I grew up in Colorado and Alaska... you dont see too many sporty cars in these places) and I was completely in love with it. I was walking around with my friend (a guy) and I guess Mark thought we were a couple and said to me "You'll go broke with a guy like that" (because he is a car guy, also into road racing) and my buddy laughed and said "Are you kidding, shes worse then me!". This sparked a funny convo with Mark and I knew I had to get a Z. I was looking for a daily driver, so something good on gas (I was commuting 45 miles to work and school every day) but I wont drive anything newer then like... mid 80's and thats pushing it. I Love vintage/classic cars. I narrowed it down between a Z and an E30, I didnt think my dad would like the Z if I bought it because of its age, so air bags, etc. I brought up the issue with him, and he was like "well... its an old car, half of the time it will be having problems, blah blah blah..."... I liked this idea. I love to wrench what can I say, and I told him Id get it running solid and keep it solid. He didnt like the idea, but I was sold. I found my 78 280z on craigslist, convinced my dad to drive down there with me the next morning... 3am to meet the owner before they had to go to work. I showed up, completely in love and excited, checked for rust (as my dad and the owner laughed at me as I'm crawling on the ground looking under the car). I bought her within 10 minutes, didnt even start the car *foolish on my part* and we were off. She had a rebuilt engine, 5sp, original paint and interior in perfect condition. about 6 months later I saw Mark again, at the Roadster show in Solvang CA. Told him he gave me the Datsun disease. Anybody who knows me knows I'm obsessed with these cars. Its the styling, the sexiness, the design and engineering behind it, everything that makes a car a car... is perfect with the Z. I'm currently looking for a daily driver Z as my car is stripped and being prepped for road race. Long story short, seeing a race prepped Z, stole my heart.
