Thanks for all your good advise! I took the strut assembly apart just as Jimbo and lowrider said. I found that the inside rubber spacer was destroyed and allowed the shock end shaft to hit on the cap assembly (the one with the 3 nuts on top, inside of car. I am waiting on delievery of the rubber spacer!! Thanks again for all your input.

Thanks for the tips, guys! Can I raise the car up and then remove the three nuts on the inside of the car that holds the shock on to the body and then just lower the schock assembly down and then remove the old shock??

A loud knocking noise occurs inside my right rear strut on my 260z when ever I hit a bump. I had new struts installed and the noise started then. any solutions? Also I had new rubber installed on the rear suspension and since then the rear end squeaks going over bumps. Does any one know how to make it quit? Thank you!
