  1. thanks except that none of you answered either of my two questions!
  2. I have searched on this forum and found that Panasport does make their FS-16 rim, 4 bolt pattern, in a 16x8 size. I have coilovers so I believe these should fit my car no problem. Does anybody know where to purchase these rims online? Also, would you recommend doing a 16x7 in front and a 16x8 in rear? That is what I had planned. -Just finished installing my 4x4 brake setup and discovered my junk wheels wont fit. Time to buy the real wheels I had wanted a little earlier than anticipated. Thanks -Nick
  3. I have been watching this thread and reading about this sr20 swap for years. I remember back when nobody did it yet. I want to put an s2000 motor in my 240z. Its just what I want, respect it. it seems like it should be an easy fit. But I cant find any information about it. For the first time swapper, being a pioneer may not be the best idea. The time is rolling around to get an engine in this thing... Looks like I may end up getting a sr20 or rb20 like all you other folks.
  4. thanks. your response was a real help. everytime i email modern motorsports, i never get a good response. since many of you guys use this kit, i figured this would be the best place to ask.
  5. well, ive been installing my front coilovers from modern motorsports and im almost done, but i cant figure out what to do with one thing. where the upper spring perch connects to the mounting insulator and all, with that bearing there, what do i need to remove/modify to make it all work? theres that rubber and metal in the way of the upper perch sitting on the bearing. it just doesnt seem to go together and i cant figure out what i need to do. thanks for your help! -Nick
  6. ive already read the 4 pages of information on this site by using the search button. thats how i found out the information like the bellhousing cadillac hot rod fabrications makes. i only have a couple posts on this site for a reason. because for the 2 years ive been reading this site, i have relied only on the search button for my source of information. but for this, i wanted some fresh opinions and maybe additional info because i think about to go for this swap and its kind of a big deal. -Nick
  7. originally, i wanted to swap a 350 into my project 240z. but the weight just kept bothering me because everything i appreciate about cars is about saving weight and handling and all that stuff. so then my mind was set on an sr20det. but lately, the prices are on the rise and i just dont think theyre worth 2500. so i have avalable to me a northstar engine for about 500. it appeals to me mostly because its all aluminum and lightweight. i have found a company selling custom bellhousings to mate to a world class t5 transmission. so what about this swap? what are your all opinions on the swap itself? i think i might do it. and dont try and tell me about how that engine sux or something. thanks for your opinions. -Nick
  8. ive searched all over this site but i coudnt get a clear cut answer of what im looking for (which is unusual). i am going to be installing new shocks and springs on my 240z. i have decided on tokico illumina's for shocks, but i cant decide on springs. i am looking for stiff springs, but i do not want to get coilovers. ive been looking at tokicos, suspension techniques, etc. so what do most people reccomend the best performing, and firmest out there? btw the car will be for mostly street with no regard to comfort whatsoever. its not my daily driver and will never be. thanks -Nick
  9. from what i found out, they have a tremec tko transmission for GM that supports around 425 ft-lb and costs $1659.95. this price is from http://www.carshopinc.com/product_info.php/products_id/55200/TCET2057 the price for this tremec is still a little more than the g-force and supports less power. in addition, the tremec does not bolt in as easily as the g-force and only a couple people are using them in our cars, as compared to the many people using t5's.
  10. okay. this is actually my first post but ive been reading and learning from hybridz for years now. up till i read about the G-force kits for t5's, i was positive id go with a t56 for my 350 engine because i want to make alot of power and it seems the t56 is the only way to go for a manual trans, but now i am rethinking this. G-force claims their kit can support around 600 horsepower. their prices are $1600 for a complete transmission from them using a used t5 core, or $1000 for the do-it-yourself kit. for all of you not familiar with g-force, check this out. http://www.g-forcetransmissions.com/tran_gt-5.asp so lets compare. bolth transmissions can handle the power so thats not an issue. -the g-force t5 costs $1600 -weight savings over t56 of 75 pounds. -the t56 costs around $1000 off ebay. -but there are the extra expenses of $400 to drive a speedometer cable -then another $600 or so just to make it work on an old style 350 block. it seems to me that the g-force t5 is a much better option than the t56 for someone with an old style block who wants to make big power. feedback, opinions?
