  1. the chain is in the right spot we triple checked it to make sure its possible the oil pump set up might be off one notch but how would the car run like that? The car is running good now no clamps on the pcv valve hose was the stumbling problem but the distributor still has to be tweaked to the advanced side like an inch past where it can be screwed in place. it accelerates fine but when it gets into higher rpm's while driving it starts missing and sputtering a little bit
  2. I just reaplaced the head gasket and had my head shaved and rebuilt and now that i've got the engine put back together completely i can not get it to run right. It stumbles under acceleration from 1000 revs to 3000 revs then will rev faster but the power still isnt there. Its a 76 280z fuel injection. Also to even get the motor to run i have to tweak the distributor all the way advanced.
  3. Thanks for the tip ordered some 22 bucks with shipping not bad my cars running fine now the clips just bump off occasionally.
  4. Yeah when i got the head back from the shop the cam gear was off and i put it on before i put the front cover on cause i realized that without taking that off i couldnt get the chain tensioner or cam gear back on. I followed everything exactly how the haynes/chiltons and the factory repair manual says to do but ive tinkered aroud with vacuum lines and its running now any ideas on how to keep broken injector clips in place?
  5. I blew the head gasket a few months ago and have had the head resurfaced and rebuilt i just got the whole engine back together and have been working on getting it running again i finally got it started yesterday and its running rough it stumbles real bad when revving the engine any opinions or help will be appreciated im new to these cars and need some s30 wisdom.
  6. ok i have a 76 280z and have had it for about 4 months ive done spark plugs wires cap and rotor just basic stuff and now im trying to tackle the vacuum problems. the only problem is i dont know why but when i bought the car the vacuum line to the distributor advance was not even there and a few other vacuum hoses are not there so i have nothing to work with basically. ive also read that you can cutout the vacuum filter please help me. also the hoses that come from the back of the manifold over to the little tank and eletrical sensor things are confusing me alot. thank you
