  1. Thanks for all the replys I greatly appreciate the validation. The sound is what I love about the ITB's with trumpets NA idea and it just simply looks sexy with ITB's. I would need to find a solution for the head as you mentioned the 26 is a turbo designed head. I don't know how much hp I want or need. Both are going to be expensive to do properly. Im just in the planning stage for that it's body work right now. But want to make an informed decision. I will look at the rb25 and maybe L28et block with a stroker kit. If I go with a NA. But I do like the power I could get from a turbo motor. Loved my 83 280zx turbo.
  2. I'm starting to work on my 71 240z, I have wanted to build a RB26 for a long time. Lately I have been considered building a naturally aspirated RB I dont know that there is a right or wrong, just different. Cost difference? Performance? Rough Hp differences? Thank for all the input. If there a wright up somewhere please share a link.
  3. Brazing is used for set lines when installing a/c units in homes. Sweeting the lines will not hold up to the pressure. One thing about brazing is that the silver brazing rods are not cheep. I really enjoy brazing it not for everything but it is fun.
  4. Well Guys I pulled the inline filter it was full of S... when i empty it the fuel came out black. however my other 2 z's are 240's did not realize the electric pump had a filter in it so I had to change that filter as well. I think that I want to put an after market fuel pump on it and get rid of both factory fuel pumps. But it helped. is it true that the electric pump only kick's in when the car is over a so many RPM's on the 260?
  5. Thank you everyone for all the help I plan to work on it this weekend I will let you know the outcome. And thank you for only posting positive feedback. Dave
  6. Thanks you for the reply I didn't think about the fuel filter, one of those too simple couldn't be that items. I will give that a try. Will see what happens. I was planing on pulling the fuel tank anyway. Could the SeaFoam affect the carbs in a negative way? Thanks Again.
  7. Hey guys and gals, I just bought another z this time a 260. It is an automatic don't know that it matters bought it drove it for a day ran great no problems. At the end of the day I put SEA FOAM in the gas tank and filled up. Stop buy a store came back out to find gas leaking from tank. leaked out to 1/2 tank. The next day I drove car for about 40 min. When I started to pass someone I lost all power and when I let off the gas power came back. Parked car latter drove about 10 min. and the car did the same thing. Now that car looses power and dies after about 5 min. My first thought was vapor lock, however it starts right up and will run until I put it under load. Can anyone help? Has anyone else had this happen to them. It could be one of the fuel pumps should I here the electric fuel pump buy the tank. Please positive post only. The 260z does have flat top su's I know that someone is going to be an ass an tell me that someone else had a post about this however, I did several searches and did not finding any real help. I also know that many will tell me to change the carbs and while that may be a good idea not sure that is the problem. I don't know all the answers or I would not beasking for help. We are all car guys and here to help each other, all of us have something to give and we all will need to take at some point.
  8. Thanks I will check them out thats a great price. I just think $200 is a little much as someone else said. But it would be nice for fitting an intercooler.
  9. This is what i was looking for. I wonder if we can do this a lot cheeper with out buying their kit i will try it and let every one that would like know if it works what it cost and parts used.
  10. Thank you I did not think I was crazy but you never know. I think the hood lifts are what I'm looking for they use a gas strut instead of tension rods. The tension rods are taken off and you mount a gas strut to the the car and other end is on the hinge mount some thing like this don't know munch some details may not be wright.
  11. Has any one else seen the hood tension rods replaced with small struts? I saw them some where and now I can't find them. If you have seen this please let me know? Thanks For Your Help
  12. I have a wire on my 73 240 that come off of the - side of the coil and runs up under the dash. I don't know what this wire could of and should be going to. I was a going to restore this car and started taking apart then bought 71 and I now am going to build the 71 and use the 73 for daily driver till the 71 is done then restore the 73. Now I don't know what this wire could of and should be going to. Any Ideas?? The wire was added by someone at some point not factory. I know I am a dumb ass I should mark things.
  13. I bought a roof form a guy that said he had a perfect roof I got it feels like some kid ran and jump on it. He says the it must of happened in shipping. Anyway I need a good roof skin for my 240 if you have one let me know. Give me a call 260.602.4151 or email me datsundave@verizon.net Thanks
  14. The factory pans have been replaced and I can see both sides of the after market pans no rust lucky me.
  15. So I have a donor 73 with after market floor pans rust free. And a 71 that I am building would it be unwise to cut the 73s floor pan out and put them in the 71 witch is need of floor pans. I would not be using the frame rails, I will be buying new, so if you have extra you want to sell let me know. I am not an expert on this topic so all positive advice is welcome. 73 has no roof 71 has roof
